Founded in 2013, Angkor Research and Consulting Ltd. is a registered Cambodian company providing innovative solutions to complex research and policy questions.

Angkor Research specialize in conducting all aspects of monitoring, research, and evaluation (MR&E) project design, implementation, and analysis, including impact evaluations, project assessments, large-scale research project management, qualitative research, data collection and management (data entry, reconciliation, etc), feasibility studies, technical training, and knowledge dissemination. We are experts in public health (including sexual/reproductive health and HIV/AIDS), communications, education, environmental sciences, economics, international development, and disaster/risk management. We can draw on the previous experiences of our staff, who have worked together for many years on projects for governments, donor agencies, bilateral organizations and NGOs including the Royal Government of Cambodia, USAID, AFD (French Development Agency), The World Bank, the UN, EU, and many others.

Due to the recent expansion of our project portfolio, we are seeking additional staff to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary research team and are looking for an international Research Project Manager to join our team. You must be currently residing in Cambodia or willing to relocate to Cambodia for this role. The position is ideally suited to professionals interested in gaining experience on a wide variety of research and consulting projects.

Research Project Manager

Position Summary

The research project manager is a key position at Angkor Research and the right candidate must be highly skilled at planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative research, analysis and report writing. You will have a demonstrable record of successful research projects as well as a wide array of research skills and strategies to apply to the tasks given by Angkor Research. The right candidate must be able to effectively communicate with all members of their team as well as clients. Project management skills are key and include being able to clearly understand, explain project goals and requirements to fellow researchers and clients, providing regular updates on progress and any issues that may arise during projects.

Remuneration and Benefits:

Expected gross salary will be in the range of $1900 to $2,400 based on skills, qualifications, and experience. After successful completion of probation (3 months), candidates will be offered a 1-year contract, which includes a competitive and comprehensive benefits package including paid public holidays, annual leave, health insurance, accident insurance among other benefits. The Research Project Manager is a full-time position based at Angkor Research’s office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Research Opportunities
  • Identify project opportunities, regularly check online tender portals
  • Lead the development of project proposals and project budgets in collaboration with the various departments at Angkor
  • Interact with the Angkor senior management, finance, and fieldwork departments to get approvals for proposal submissions
  • Research Planning, Data Collection an Analysis
  • Lead and track project completion within allotted timelines and budgets
  • Develop research and study protocols
  • Design questionnaires and research sub-tasks
  • Develop and enforce research policies and procedures
  • Address project issues and escalate complex issues to management
  • Use appropriate data and sources for research purposes
  • Act as primary contact for client communications and manage and build the relationship as an Angkor representative with the client
  • Conduct team meetings to discuss project status and issues
  • Conduct experiments, survey sessions, and data collection
  • Prepare project documentations and organize gathered information
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data
  • Interpret data
  • Produce project research reports
  • Research Distribution
  • Discuss findings, providing regular project updates to other researchers and stakeholders
  • Present your work in written and verbal form to different stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional activities: author, co-author abstracts; attend and present at meetings and conferences.
  • Review completed projects and identify key areas of concern and areas of improvement in research design, project, and budget implementation
  • Look for opportunities that promote Angkor’s profile, building long-term relationships with clients and fellow researchers.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • A minimum of a master's degree in your area of research specialization, additional certifications & licenses is an asset
  • Three years' experience as a researcher and/or project manager
  • Demonstrable research skills in data analysis, statistics, survey design, findings interpretation
  • Working proficiency in at least one: SPPS, R, NVIVO, Stata, is required. Other analysis software is an asset
  • Knowledge of research and experimental techniques for gathering both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Impeccable English, native or near-native abilities in written and spoken English highly valued.
  • Proficiency in report writing and analysis
  • Ability to conduct research independently as well as working within a team
  • Experience working in the development sector
  • Team-working with excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate well with a mixed team of Cambodian and expatriate staff.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, time management and prioritization skills needed
  • A genuine interest in research and willingness to learn new skills
  • Willing to work in an office environment

  • Willing to relocate and work in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
