Khmer-English Translator
Monthly gross salary (before taxes) will be in the range of $350 to $500 based on skills, qualifications, and experience. All staff on fixed duration contracts (FDC) and post 3-months’ probation also benefit from a competitive and comprehensive package including paid public holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, accident insurance, maternity leave among other benefits. The Translator role is a full-time position based in Angkor Research’s office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
- In addition to translation and interpretation, some administrative work may be required. The regular duties include:
- Translation of research and administrative documents (reports, questionnaires, interview results, forms, contracts, etc.) between Khmer and English, and vice versa.
- Assist the Research staff with questionnaire formatting and review.
- Occasional interpretation between Khmer and English-speaking staff, clients, and interviewees.
- Additional tasks, as required by the Director and senior staff.
- The successful applicants will have the following profile:
- Previous experience in Khmer-English and English-Khmer translation or interpretation work.
- University education in a related field (English literature, translation, etc).
- Native Khmer speaker with excellent reading and writing ability and understanding of different Cambodian social and cultural norms and dialects.
- Advanced English knowledge, and excellent ability to communicate.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and ability to type in English and Khmer Unicode.
- Must be friendly, hardworking, and motivated.
