The Driver will be part of the Operations Unit and the main role is to deliver day-to-day support to the WaterAid program team in safely driving, supporting in logistic arrangements and internal communications. Purpose

The Driver and Office Assistant is responsible for the proper and safe utilization of the vehicle and providing transportation for staff and official visitors. She/he will be in charge of vehicle maintenance, vehicle log sheet and operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner. The Driver will support the WaterAid team in administration, logistics activities in the office and the field.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Driving
  • Be responsible for safety of passengers and proper use of the vehicle.
  • Maintain driver license and be in possession of driver license at all times.
  • Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management to minimize service interruptions.
  • Secure vehicle equipment and ensure that the vehicle is kept in a secure location with locking devices at all times.
  • Respond to accidents and medical emergencies by immediately notifying emergency response providers and reporting immediately to Administrative Coordinator and report all accidents and incidents no matter how small.
  • Ensure vehicle is fueled appropriately and submit receipts.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is clean and tidy at all times.
  • Ensure that vehicle is not used for personal business of staff or any other person.
  • Present safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure and ensure that everyone sitting in car is wearing the seat belts.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of trip sheets, vehicle condition reports, vehicle maintenance, and other records as required by WaterAid
  • Administration
  • Reduce plastic usage in WA cars
  • Be pro-active in building office green sustainability
  • Ensure First Aid kit and fire extinguishers in vehicle and all necessary tool and spare parts.
  • Assist in movement and storage of materials transported by vehicle.
  • Support administrative and logistic tasks and program work during in the fields.
  • Assist in updating route planning regularly
  • Perform other duties as required by the WaterAid.

  • Arrange logistics needs for field trips
  • Book hotels for staff and venue for meetings
  • Support organisation of WaterAid events such as workshops /trainings/ meetings such as preparing needed materials, copy documents, take photos or videos, etc.

  • Document WaterAid field activities, through photos and films, for internal communications purposes and regular post these on internal sharing forums

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Bac II and must have a valid Cambodian's driving license type “B”
  • Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in driving for local or international NGOs.
  • Experience in using vehicle with manual transmission
  • Willingness to work as team and commitment.
  • Ability to communicate and understand basic information in English.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Desirable
  • Experience in working as a driver in a private company, non-profit, non-government organization and/ or International NGO
  • Knowledge and skills
  • Essential
  • Knowledge of basic mechanics and maintenance.
  • Must be familiar with local traffic laws
  • Good knowledge of road condition, especially geography of Phnom Penh and provinces in Cambodia.
  • Ability to read and interpret road signs in English.
  • Ability to use digital platforms

  • First aid skill and fire extinguishers using knowledge.
  • Experience in photography and video.
