Communication and Safeguarding Officer

Purpose :
Overseeing of World Renew ‘s media and communications in Cambodia and ensuring the smooth operation of local and global relations, including engagement of interns and volunteers, visitors, participants of a discovery tour or visioning tours, pairing the local volunteers to North American volunteers, and church-to-church partnerships. Additionally, this position will also work closely with other staff members and partners to monitor the program’s impact by discovering the evidence for success through stories of changes and celebrate them broadly across communities, constituents and relevant stakeholders.
- Develops itineraries and materials for in-country orientation – cultural and contextual awareness, program-specific education, and debriefing resources – to enhance constituent involvement in World Renew’s programs in coordination with relevant partners and staff members, including CORE and Global Volunteer Program staff.
- Works with the support staff and partners to arrange in-country logistics for visitors, volunteers, and learning groups.
- Ensures constant learning and communication with the Global Volunteer Program prior to arrival, and on debriefing & follow-up.
- Debriefs visitors, groups, partners and communities and confirms their plans for future engagement (projects, finances, correspondence, volunteering, etc.)
- Brings visitors and serves as a translator for every visit to communities and when necessary.
- Provides monitoring and ongoing support for visitors, and partners, including but not limited to helping with cultural interpretation, providing guidance on implementation of policies and procedures, and helping to mediate in difficulties if they arise.
- Follow-up with the CORE and Global Volunteer Program based on debriefing results indicating how to re-engage visitors and volunteers after their departure.
- Identifies opportunities for Global relations partnerships such as Church-to-Church Partnerships, local interns and volunteers to North American youth and volunteers...
- Recommends to the CD and Global Volunteer Program Manager, in developing and reviewing a national constituency strategy for better engagement
- Serves as a focal person for safeguarding and social inclusion for the Cambodia office
- Assists the CD in providing orientation, ongoing support and debriefing of all visitors, volunteers, interns and interested groups.
- Supports the CD in building relationships and communications with relevant government departments, institutes, universities and schools to promote local internship and volunteering programs in Cambodia.
- Manages World Renew’s multi-media and communication platforms, such as developing annual booklet, stories of changes, free family project, and taking and editing pictures, videos and audio for communication as required.
- Work with partners to oversee a specific project assigned by the CD, including project monitoring, planning and writing report.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Country Director.
- Qualifications and requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Christian faith and can apply those beliefs to their work and their life.
- Knowledge and understanding of community development, safeguarding and social inclusion, anti-
- trafficking in persons and youth empowerment. Experience in one or more of these fields is a plus.
- Compassionate, respectful of other cultures and able to communicate effectively

- Education and/or Experience
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field such as social Work, Community Development and/or Communications, etc.
- Competence in all basic Microsoft Office software, and communication technology, including developing stories, videos, posters, captions, and other media production plans.
- Experience in using designing software such as Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and others
- Experience with volunteers from North America is an asset for this position.
- Experience in the management and administration of programs or projects.
- Experience and/or skills in “people stewardship”, especially with volunteers and groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from other cultures and work in teams.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to coordinate and stay on track with multiple projects (with attention to details, schedules and deadlines)
- At least two years of cross-cultural experience.
- Language Skills
- Advanced verbal and written English & Khmer are required for this position.
- Physical Demands:
- The position will require travel in rural areas and limited access to services.
- Travel to rural and remote locations with unreliable access to water and electricity.
- Able and willing to drive a manual vehicle to communities.
