In 2014, Smiling Gecko Cambodia (SGC) was officially registered as a local NGO in Cambodia. SGC is legally independent of Smiling Gecko Switzerland. Following its mission of “Cambodians helping Cambodians” the organization, focuses on fighting the causes of poverty and helping people to help themselves. To this end, SGC launched a project on a previously acquired site to the North of Phnom Penh whose objective is to provide several thousand Cambodians with future job training and a regular income in the sectors of education, agriculture, tourism, industry, and trade.

Education is the linchpin for the development of any society. Providing schooling for children is therefore paramount to Smiling Gecko's cluster project. The local village school was renovated in 2015. In November 2017, Smiling Gecko Education Campus opened a separate primary school and a kindergarten. The school is to be extended over the coming years to include a high school. We are about to establish an education center for around 1000 students that serves as a model for the school system in Cambodia.

Teachers for Early Years (3 Positions)

Salary: 20,000 USD (Net Income) per annum

Duties
  • Maintain an Early Year classroom conducive to learning, and manage the classroom
  • Recognize challenging student behaviour and resolve it successfully
  • Develop lesson plans
  • Support student learning
  • Differentiate instruction
  • Establish and enforce a set of rules for the classroom
  • Prepare students for standardized tests
  • Keep parents updated on their child's progress
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Teaching certification
  • Native-leveled English speaker
  • 2 years or more of successful teaching experience at the elementary level

ESL Teachers for Secondary School (3 Positions)

Duties
  • Develop and implement engaging physical education at the Sports Field and health lessons in the assigned classrooms.
  • Teach students about fitness, nutrition, and overall well-being.
  • Organize sports activities, team-building exercises, and fitness assessments.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices and injury prevention strategies.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain and ensure the proper use of sports equipment and facilities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or relevant credentials prepared.
  • Native-level English speaker.
  • 2+ years in teaching PE and Health in a school setting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and classroom management.
  • Ability to demonstrate exercises and sports techniques effectively.

Music Teacher (1 Position)

  • Prepare students for performance, examinations, or auditions.
  • Foster creativity and musical expression through interactive activities.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Organize and direct school concerts or music events at the end of the school year.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or related field.
  • Teaching certification or music credentials preferred.
  • Native-level English speaker.
  • 2+ years of music teaching experience, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong musical proficiency, classroom management, and adaptability.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for music instruction.

Inventory Controller (2 Positions)

Duties
  • Assist in the purchasing of supplies, equipment, and materials as needed by teachers, students, and operations.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to distribute supplies and equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Track stock, generate reports, and update records of received and distributed.
  • Stored properly, organized efficiently, and easily accessible, and ensure that necessary materials are available for students, teachers, and the operational team.
  • Maintain office supplies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years in inventory management or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software, SAP, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong data analysis skills to track inventory trends and optimize stock levels.
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and implement control procedures.
  • Ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies efficiently.
 

Admin Officer (2 Positions)

Salary : Based on the qualification, certification, and experience

Duties
  • Assist in managing day-to-day office operations and filing students’ documents.
  • Answering phone calls, handling correspondence, and providing basic support to students and parents when needed.
  • Maintain and update student, staff, and school records. Input attendance data, manage databases, and support tracking and reporting academic or administrative progress.
  • Prepare reports, newsletters, and school announcements. Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact for visitors, students, and staff.
  • Assist in maintaining school office equipment and technology, including copiers, computers, and printers, as well as troubleshooting minor technical issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Administration, education management, or related field.
  • 2+ years in Admin roles, preferably in a school setting.
  • Ability to manage school records, schedules, and office operations efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, students, and parents.
  • Ability to handle inquiries, resolve administrative issues, and support school operations.
