Job Overview:

Care for Children is looking for a skilled, enthusiastic individual to join our new team in Battambang as we continue our project to further the development and success of Family based alternative care in Cambodia alongside the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation in Battambang.

We are looking for a special individual with a range of skills and abilities to strengthen our team. As a Project Coordinator your role will be varied. You will focus on government liaison as well as administrative tasks of the project in Siem Reap and develop excellent working relationships with government staff at DoSVY as well as RCI and Provincial Governor.

You will also be required to support and working closely with our training officer as they deliver high quality training to government staff.

Duties
  • Provide administration support for the day-to-day work of the Project in Battambang.
  • Attend project meetings with our Cambodian partners and provide translation support where necessary.
  • Identify risks and challenges that could potentially impacts on the progressing of the project activities then discuss and propose a new strategy to Country manager and the management team.
  • To liaison with government partners such as DoSVY, RCI, and Siem Reap provincial governor in progressing more cases work, especially with the children from the RCI.
  • Lobbying with government social workers to pursue higher standard of best practice on case management, family visitation, or the arrangement of family recruitment events.
  • Assist with the organisations’ registration and other legal matters.
  • Assist with project administration when required.
  • Assist with booking all training/workshop/events
  • Support Training Officer in training sessions and technical support to social workers.
  • Check the translation of training documents to ensure they are suitable for use with Cambodian staff members.
  • Arrange meetings and travel for the Project Team.
  • Assist the Country Manager and other staff members with the completion of the daily tasks related to the project.
Requirements
  • Education:
  • A university degree in social work or a relevant field or a proven ability to work as part of a team at a high level.
  • Professional Experience:
  • Experience of working for NGO or similar organisation.
  • Experience of providing advocacy working with government.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with government officials or orphanage staff would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge in child protection, foster care and child welfare would be an advantage
  • Able to work flexible

Job Overview:

Care for Children is looking for a Training Coordinator help contribute to the development the of Foster Care in Cambodia. Our project has been created in partnership with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Veterans and currently focuses on working closely with DoSVY and the two government RCIs in Battambang.

As a Training Coordinator, you will deliver training programs for these RCIs, as well as DoSVY and other key stakeholders. You will need to be a Cambodian national who will assist the Country Manager in co-ordinating and delivering Care for Children’s training program. The role will include amending and revising programmes as required to adapt to the specific needs of trainees. You will need to regularly analyse and review the success of the training delivered to determine what further learning is needed for future growth and development.

Initial Onboarding and Orientation will take place in Phnom Penh. Following this, the role will be predominantly based in Siem Reap. The role will also require some travelling between these locations.

Salary and Employment Terms

  • This position is open to Khmer only.
  • Specific salary will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Duties
  • Working with the Country Manager and CFC team to develop strategic training plans to meet identified training needs.
  • Scheduling training programs, including selecting course content from Care for Children’s training materials.
  • Delivering training sessions and preparing other Care for Children training staff to do so.
  • Monitoring training programmes and manuals to ensure they are contextualised, effective and up to date.
  • Direct communication and consultation with RCI staff, government partners and other stakeholders.
  • Collecting and sharing feedback on training workshops in order to evidence effectiveness of Care for Children’s training program.
  • Providing support on research and evaluation work in Cambodia.
  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of research on best practice.
  • Building relationships with social work experts from the government and other NGOs.
  • Analysing obstacles to foster care programs faced by RCIs, and recommending solutions to Country Manager.
  • When possible, advocating to government and other stakeholders for foster care as a positive alternative to institutional care, in line with government legislation and policy.
  • *As a member of small team, you will sometimes be required to take part in other operational duties not specifically related to training delivery. At Care for Children, we appreciate staff with a “can-do” attitude who will embrace any task presented to them.
Requirements
  • Essential
  • Khmer National.
  • A university degree in Social Work.
  • Experience as a trainer with a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, report writing and analytical skills.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Organisational and planning skills to manage your time and to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Able to work flexibly.
  • Desirable
  • Familiar with Cambodian government structures and processes.
  • Experience in liaising with government officials.
  • Knowledge and experience of foster care processes.
  • Relevant professional experience on social development issues.
