The HALO Trust is the world’s largest humanitarian mine action organization, working to rid the world of landmines and explosive remnants of war. Employing over 13,000 staff on the ground in 29 countries and territories helping millions of families return to their homes safely, but there is still much more to do.

The HALO Trust has been working in Cambodia since 1991 and currently employs over 1,200 staff to work on mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal projects in the north and northwest of the country.

We would like to invite service providers and bidders to participate in the bidding process for the Illustrator Tender.

Summary

Role Summary

The Illustrator is responsible for creating drawings and artistic contents to be used, among others, in Explosive Ordnance Risk Educations (EORE) material. EORE is the process of providing people with knowledge and practical skills to recognize, avoid, and report explosive ordnance hazards. It aims to reduce the risk of injury or death by raising awareness of dangers posed by landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and other explosive remnants of war (ERW), particularly in conflict-affected areas. This role aims at updating and tailoring material used by HALO Cambodia’s EORE teams, and therefore provide more effective and convincing sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with the Programme Officers, EORE Coordinator and Project officer on the illustrations to be created. A list of current needs is included in Annex A.
  • Reviewing existing EORE materials to identify what can still be used or needed to be updated.
  • Create a series of digital illustrations (e.g., posters, flyers, flipcharts, and animations) tailored to the specific needs of affected communities for the EORE teams to use in their presentations and hand out materials.
  • Ensure all illustrations are age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and accessible to individuals with low literacy levels.
  • Include inputs and feedback from the EORE teams and amend the drawings as required.

Submission Requirements

  • A cover letter explaining their approach to the project.
  • A portfolio or samples of relevant work.
  • Two references from past projects.
  • A financial proposal, including itemized costs for each product.
