Lotus Outreach Cambodia (LOCAM) is a local, non-governmental, non-profitable, non-political and non-religious organization, registered with the Ministry of Interior in January 2008. LOCAM empowers women and children living in poverty through a range of innovative solutions. Our approach combines education, training, and the provision of essential care and protection to ensure a multidimensional and sustainable vision of empowerment. 

LOCAM's CAmbodian Tertiary Education And Leadership, YouthS Training program (CATALYST) is designed to offer assistance to ensure girls finish tertiary studies and/or training and further education programs that lead to certain employment and provide seminars and mentoring with emphasis on leadership, professional development and self-development, health, social as well as gender issues that will prepare these young women as potential agents of social change.

LOCAM is seeking a Counselor and a Part-Time Intern based in Phnom Penh with travel to provinces.

Counselor

Mission:

  • Ensure all students find help and support to maintain their mental health or overcome problems.
  • Provide career guidance and help the students to build their “life project” (work and personal
Duties
  • Provide face to face and phone counseling to students
  • Provide career counselling to students
  • Follow up cases & conduct home visits where necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality of students' information
  • Conduct yearly assessment of each student
  • Cooperate and assist CATALYST project where necessary
  • Conduct workshops related to psychological education and on topics of interest for the majority of students
  • Document all counseling sessions
  • Travel to province every month
  • Undertake other duties/tasks required by Country Representative
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in psychology or relevant degree in counselling
  • At least 2 years of related experience
  • Good knowledge of youth development and educational psychology
  • Can travel to province
  • Excellent communication skill
  • Resistance to stress and pressure
  • Strong listening skills
  • Strong problems solving and negotiation skills
  • Self-managed, self-motivated and highly responsible
  • Ability to address sensitive issues
  • Have experience of providing training related to psychological education
  • Good in Khmer and English
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), Google Tool, and Internet/Email

Intern

Duties
  • Translate case studies/students' background stories/other documents from Khmer to English and vice versa
  • Design a variety of visual materials, including posters, banners, flyers, brochures, and etc. for both print and digital platforms
  • Add subtitles and captions to videos, ensuring accuracy and proper synchronization
  • Edit and create short video clips from longer content for promotional purposes, social media, or other platforms
  • Administer Lotus Outreach Cambodia Facebook Page
  • Review students' daily journals and give feedback
  • Facilitate & organize training events and other programs
  • Look for scholarships, trainings and job opportunities to share with both high school and CATALYST scholars
  • Work closely with team leaders at three residences
  • Home visits and social audit with Project Officer sometimes
  • Undertake other duties/tasks required by Project Officer
Requirements
  • Fluent in English language proficiency (writing, reading, speaking and listening skills)
  • Knowledgeable in designing programs using tools such as Canva, OpenShot, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
  • Computer literacy in Google Tools, Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), Internet/Email,
  • Creative and proactive
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Punctual, honest, attention to details
