Sala Baï
Launched in 2002, Sala Baï Hotel and Restaurant school is a program created by the French NGO Agir Pour le Cambodge (APLC), to fight poverty and human trafficking through social and professional training of young underprivileged Cambodians. Each year the school trains free of charge, about 150 young disadvantaged Cambodians between 17 and 23 years old. It offers 5 different training categories in the hospitality industry: Restaurant Service, Cooking, Housekeeping, Front Office and Beauty Therapy. The hotel, restaurant and spa of the school are open to the public to allow the students to practice in real conditions. With more than 2 100 ALUMNI trained, Sala Baï is recognized as a leading impact program in Cambodia.
Archaeology & Development Foundation (ADF)
The Archaeology and Development Foundation (ADF) is a British not-for-profit charity (n.1122750) and a registered international NGO in Cambodia. ADF scope is unique and exclusively focusing on the Phnom Kulen National Park (PKNP), 40 Km north-east of Angkor World Heritage site. ADF was set up in 2008 to investigate one of the earliest capitals of the Angkor region and its later settlements. ADF’s main objective is to ensure that its archaeological preservation program is fully integrated with the conservation of the Phnom Kulen natural environmental and with the improvement of livelihood for the local population, distributed over 10 villages (approx. 4,900 inhabitants).

LOCATION: Phnom Kulen-Siem Reap
You will be employed by Sala Baï NGO, but you will work most of the time in Phnom Kulen National Park under ADF’s operational management in order to develop and implement a new ecotourism project. You will spend in average 4 days per week in Phnom Kulen in ADF’s house and 1 day per week in Sala Baï’s office.
Your objective will be to set up an association regrouping the two Community Based Tourism Centers (CBTCs) of Anlong Thom and Popel villages, and to accompany the team of the association to grow their revenue, in order to generate alternative incomes for the local population and reduce the agricultural impact on the PKNP natural resources. Environmentally friendly practices are central to this project since it is held in a national park and the improvement of the protection of the environment is a key expected outcome.

Duties
- Preparatory work for the project:
- Diagnosis of the CBTC's capabilities: strengths, weaknesses, needs, definition of a capacity-building strategy
- Set up the new association: interface with a consultant to register the NGO with the Ministry of Interior
- Work closely with the authorities such as village chiefs, commune chief and council, district office, the provincial department of environment and the Ministry of Environment for all necessary authorizations
- Structuration and development of the CBTCs activities:
- Hire and train a communication & admin staff for the association
- Conception of a viable business plan with the perspective of the end of the financial support
- Development of the tourism offers already proposed by the CBTCs and adaptation of the pricing policy based on the business plan
- Development of an offer for travel agencies and creation of a network of clients
- Arrange a familiarization (FAM) trip for travel agencies to immerse themselves in the activities and services offered by CBTCs.
- Capacity building on reservation and sales for the CBTC staff
- Ensure and improve the services of CBTCs in Anlong Thom and Popel (food, guiding skills, circuits…) through valuable feedback from visitors
- Promotion of the Phnom Kulen ecotourism site (accompanied by Sala Baï marketing team):
- Development of the communication strategy both digital and non-digital to be implemented by the CBTC team members
- Creation of all necessary communication material and tour presentations
- Collaboration with Sala Baï marketing team & Sala Baï network to promote the program
- Support to Kulen Craft for the development of their visibility
- Training coordination:
- Strengthen the skills and knowledge of local guides through ongoing training based on their requests and visitor recommendations.
- Conception & coordination of the training planning for CBTC members:
- 10-15 days of training made by Sala Baï trainers on site in Phnom Kulen
- 2-3 weeks in Sala Baï office for the 3 association employees
- Potential other external trainings or field visits to organize
- Basic training in IT, administration & communication to 3 CBTC staff members
- Promote Sala Baï’s training opportunity amongst Phnom Kulen’s beneficiaries
- Organisation of Sala Baï’s student’s training on site
- Donor reporting & Budget management:
- Collaborate to fix the KPI’s for the project and create the tools and the process to follow these indicators
- Coordination of the budget dedicated for the project
- Supervision of the expenses and revenues of the 2 CBTC centers
- Liaison between ADF and Sala Baï’s teams with reporting tools and regular meetings
- Coordinate any supplementary field reports requested by the donors
Requirements
- Experience:
- Five years’ experience in the (eco)tourism sector : touristic agency, ecosite management, nature tours, etc.
- Relevant project management experience is a strong avantage
- Skills
- Expert knowledge in ecotourism development particularly in rural areas
- Proficient in english
- Demonstrated expertise in business planning and marketing, preferably in the (eco)tourism sector,
- Computer literate in office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Budget Management: Experience in budgeting, expense forecasting, and cost control
- Personal traits:
