Chemonics seeks five (5) Interns for the five year, $14.9 million USAID Cambodia Advancing Youth Leadership (AYL) Activity. AYL aims to enhance the capacity of youth, including those from marginalized groups, through leadership skills building and practical action opportunities and empower youth to participate fully in civic engagement and community development.
The AYL Activity will have a strong emphasis on providing paid internship opportunities for youth, and AYL is excited to recruit the first five interns. Interns will have an assigned area of focus: 1) Youth Engagement; 2) Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning; and 3) Grants, and 4) Events and Communications.
In alignment with AYL project, interns will be 18-29 years.
Period of Performance: 6 months (with possible 6 month extension for total of 1 year)
Level of Effort (LOE): Full Time or Part Time, based on negotiation
Location: Phnom Penh (GIA Building, Koh Pich)

Interns will be based at the AYL office in the GIA building, Koh Pich. Some travel may be required. Interns will be provided laptops for work purposes, which will be stored at the AYL office.
Work Schedule
Each intern placement will be for an initial 6 months, and may be extended for a maximum of an additional 6 months for a total of one year (12 months).
Interns may work either full time (5 days per week, 8 hours per day) or part time as agreed during the recruitment process.
Intern Role
Interns are youth who will work alongside AYL staff, contributing to a specific area of project activity: Youth Engagement; Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL); Grants, or Events and Communications.
Through dedicated on-job support, career coaching and mentorship, interns will gain valuable workplace experience as well as have an opportunity to meaningfully contribute to the shape and delivery of AYL activities.
