Church World Service (CWS) was born, in 1946 in the US, in the wake of the devastation of World War II. CWS is a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster. CWS represents 37 Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox, Peace and Historic Black member communions that encompass a diversity of denominations, traditions, histories, and cultures in the United States and around the world. CWS was founded to do in partnership what no denomination could hope to do alone, in service of our vision of a world where everyone has food, voice, and a safe place to call home.
CWS and has been working in Cambodia since 1979. CWS formally registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as an international non-governmental and not—for-profit organization; working in partnership helping rural communities to improve livelihoods focusing on a comprehensive, integrated rural development program seeks to uphold and honor people’s rights to life and a dignified living, and to help them reduce climate vulnerability, improve natural resource management, increase local food security and economic resilience.
CWS received funding from IUCN – the Global Fund to Support the Implementation and Upscaling of Ecosystem-based Adaption (Global EbA Fund) – to implement the project “Build Climate Resilient Communities in Stung Prey Pros Watershed”. We are now looking for a Program Manager for CCA/DRR based in CWS Cambodia Office, Phnom Penh.
