Founded in 1991, Enfants d’Asie is a French organization aiming at supporting disadvantaged children building their future. Its action is strictly humanitarian, apolitical and non-confessional. Enfants d’Asie is involved in 4 countries in Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Since 1991, Enfants d'Asie has been working in Cambodia in collaboration with the government and local authorities. We are supporting more than 700 children and teenagers, who are living in their families, in state orphanages and in our 3 centres. The main objective is the schooling of children and access to a qualifying training and then a job, to enable them to get out of precariousness. To complete this objective, we are developing a global approach by implementing a social and educational support.

The local team is made up of 35 employees who implement, monitor and develop programs and activities. The team is currently working to reorganize and strengthen the support and social monitoring of children and their families.

Global description of the position

As social worker for Enfants d’Asie Cambodia’s beneficiaries, the main objectives are to enable each child housed to gain access to a diploma and/or a stable job consistent with his aspirations as well as to promote the development of each child in his personal and educational life.

Under the direction of the Program Manager, and in collaboration with other social workers, donor relationship officer and financial team, the social worker is responsible for the social and educative follow-up for up to 150 children living in different provinces in Cambodia.

The employee should build professional relationships based on trust, collaboration and mutual respect with children and teenagers families, employees of Enfants d'Asie Cambodia, authorities of Cambodia and operational partners.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Strategy and representation:
  • Represent EAC in different meetings or events
  • Selection process:
  • Identify potential new beneficiaries regarding EAC criteria through a social assessment
  • Ensure the new social inquiry
  • Collect all official documents needed
  • Introduce potential new beneficiaries to the monthly Program Commission
  • Inform the family of the EAC decision and make sign the commitment letter
  • Children follow-up:
  • Organise his/her mission to meet all the students under his/her responsability
  • Organise individual meeting with all the students
  • Follow up the evolution of the conditions of life of all the students under his/her responsability (physical and emotional safety)
  • Collect and analyse data, complete and update the tools Masterlists and Salesforce with relevant informations collected after each mission / meeting
  • Work closely with teachers, schools directors and centers directors of each student
  • Propose situation for follow-up commission and propose solution to issues
  • Stay alert for any health problem, inform the Program Manager and ensure the health follow-up
  • Organize meeting and/or social inquiry with legal representative when needed
  • Manage exceptional request for student or his/her legal representative when needed
  • Ensure the school follow-up to identify success and weakness of each student and collect school reports
  • Be responsible of material or financial support to the children during missions on the field
  • Organize and manage awareness workshops on specific subjects when needed
  • Provid complete, accountable, transparent invoices to the finance department
  • Relations with partners and sponsors:
  • Identify NGOs partners with the agreement of the manager to improve the follow up of the children
  • Contact (by phone or visit) state orphanage and school director to collect information about students and families
  • Contact (by phone or visit) locals authorities (namely chief of village) to collect information about students and families
  • Inform Program Manager about important information regarding orphanage state, Dosvy, school or village.
  • Organise and manage workshop to make children write letters to theirs sponsors - twice a year
  • Request the goodbye letters and/or thank you letters from children to sponsors
  • Manage activities linked with sponsorship (gift, visit of sponsors…)
  • Write school year report for each sponsored student
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in the field of education, child psychology, social work or other relevant subject,
  • At least minimum one year of experience as social worker,
  • Excellent communication in Khmer and English
  • Able to work in an international team,
  • High sense of integrity and honesty,
  • Sense of initiative, autonomous, creative, open, and critical,
  • Strongly motivated to work for disadvantaged children.
