Deputy Head of Midwifery

Position Summary:

  • Work with head of faculty to implement the Vision and Strategic direction of the UP Midwifery Department in compliance with government regulations to establish Cambodia`s leading Midwifery Department.
  • Work to strengthening the quality of Midwifery Education by ensuring educational and clinical goals and objectives are achieved, ensuring program approval that is based on accepted best practices.
  • Actively leads and develops midwifery staff, to ensure effective team work.
  • Establish networks with health and education providers locally and regionally to provide midwifery students and staff with high quality opportunities.
  • Participate in Research and Development to increase the capacity of the Midwifery Department, the Faculty of Health Sciences and University of Puthisastra

Duties
  • The overall job description below outlines the main areas of responsibilities of the Employee:
  • Assists HOD to implement MOH national curriculum and develop new programs to provide high quality midwifery education
  • Works with HOD to prepare Department Operational Plan based on UP Strategy Plan.
  • Oversees the quality of OSCE to ensure a high standard of OSCE training and practice for graduating students across the midwife programs.
  • Oversees the quality of technical practice for Midwifery students to ensure a high standard of teaching clinical skills.
  • Monitors all activities of lecturers in each class and reports to Head of Midwifery on delivery of evidence based curriculum in a transparent and appropriate manner, course outlines, teaching resource and questionnaire.
  • Collects and verify the exam questions for final exam from lecturer and liaise with Head of Midwifery for checking and approval.
  • Ensures all assigned teaching (theory & practice) is student centered and pedagogically based to develop higher levels of student learning.
  • Prepares and actively participate in Midwifery Department research, developing academic relationships with external institutions (local and international) to improve capacity of Midwifery and UP.
  • Motivates staff to ensure a high standard of teaching delivery and effective team work.
  • Performs other duties as required by Head of Midwifery.
Requirements
  • Experience:
  • Working experience in practice related to midwife
  • Experience in teaching/preceptor.
  • Understanding of the national MW Curriculum in Cambodia
  • Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Midwifery or bachelor of nursing and midwife (3+1) or equivalent

Director of Research

Position Summary:

  • To strengthen research capacity at UP
  • To generate external grant income to support research at UP and Cambodia
  • Maximise research publications associated with UP
  • To assist Faculties in planning, coordinating, funding and conducting research projects which lead to publications and which will enhance the standing of UP locally and internationally
  • To ensure that research skills are embedded across curricula – both horizontally and vertically
  • To seek research collaboration and funding both locally and internationally.
  • To work with UP research team members to ensure that the projects are devised, planned, and completed efficiently and effectively.
  • To oversee the coordination, supervision and monitoring of staff research projects ensuring quality research outputs
  • Chair UP’s Research Committee and support research thesis

Duties
  • Research & relationships
  • Strengthen UP’s strategic research direction and long-term planning for research at UP
  • Work with the UP-research team, creatively identify and coordinate areas for research thatenhance and extend the UP-research portfolio
  • Develop and monitor research budgets
  • Develop proposals and apply for international grants/funding to support researchdevelopment at UP
  • Seek and consolidate external opportunities for research collaboration locally andinternationally
  • Oversee the quality of all research projects at UP across and within disciplines
  • Support the development of quality research postgraduate programs
  • Assist with the implementation of introductory research methods for all staff
  • Undertake own research projects with annual publications
  • Contribute to and participate in national and international conferences and similar events
  • Responsible for own professional development by continually updating knowledge and skills in research
  • Support
  • Establish an Institutional Review Board (“IRB”) which will review research proposals fromstaff and students to ensure good practice (including ethics) processes are adhered to
  • Create effective organizational processes, policies, and procedures to improve research and associated administration activities including developing and maintaining a database of UP research projects
  • Provide guidance and support as required to staff undertaking research at all stages of projects
  • Coordinate and participate in training for supervisors/advisors to ensure a high standard of research supervision at UP
  • Coordinate and implement continuing professional development for staff in the area of research according to UP strategic plan as well as staff goals
  • Contribute to collaborative decision making within the research group
  • Assure data integrity through the use of appropriate principles, standards and techniques for measurement, analysis, and reporting

Requirements
  • Experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience in scientific research
  • Experience leading a research team
  • Experience with various methods research, which may include laboratory research, public health research, quantitative or qualitative research methods,
  • Experience with proposal writing, grant writing, research collaborations, scientific writing, and publishing research papers
  • Experience of managing grants
  • Have published a number of papers in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
  • Education:
  • Master’s Degree/Doctor’s Degree in health-related field
  • Proficiency in the English language and ideally in Khmer
  • Skills/Competencies:
  • Advanced knowledge of research designs and methodologies, evaluation methodologies, quantitative and qualitative analysis, scientific writing, proposal and grant writing, and reporting
  • Ability to interpret data and other information to a wide variety of audiences accurately, effectively, and concisely

Duties

  • Oversee UP facilities’ operations regularly and ensure that they are being conducted and run smoothly at all time
  • Oversee and manage overall UP administration operations including environment and safety of the university
  • Develop strategic plan for office level and organizational level
  • Develop administration policies and procedures, and strategies, and oversee the implementation by making use of human resources, materials, including annual performance appraisal in the administration department
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with other departments within UP to make sure all administration policies, processes and procedures are being followed

Duties
  • The overall job description below outlines the main areas of responsibility of the Employee:
  • Plan and teach courses (theory and practice) and develop course outlines ensuring they are evidence based, continually updated and linked in with other relevant courses and will develop higher levels of learning of students.
  • Coordinate community practicum across the programs according to MOH curriculum guidelines.
  • Work closely with clinical team in planning clinical monitoring of students in practicum to ensure students receive regular clinical follow up.
  • Assist in process of allocation of students to practicum according to annual practicum schedule.
  • Monitor students in practicum, working closely with preceptors and other staff in the hospitals/health centers, ensuring a high level of competency of UP students.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure relevant practicum documentation processes are completed.
  • Assist in implementation of TP and other internal student practice requirements according to curriculum guidelines.
  • Actively participate in nursing research activity, be a professional role model for students and undertake professional development appropriate to role.
  • Carry out exam and other academic processes required liaising with Academic Affairs and other UP departments as necessary.
  • Perform other functions appropriate to the position as may be directed by the HOD ensuring a high standard of communication and reporting.
