Position Name: Cambodia Dog and Cat Meat Trade Program Coordinator

Location: Phnom Penh/Remote

Schedule: Consultancy – 30-40 hours per week

Rate: Applicant to provide desired hourly and daily (8-hour) rates with application. The selected consultant will be recompensed based on a daily basis, with travel expenses reimbursed where applicable. Consultants will be expected to work the equivalent of 4-5 days per week.

Duties
  • Being an integral part of the strategic development and implementation of campaigns to end the dog and cat meat trade in Cambodia, including integration with public awareness campaigns and other activities and assisting with campaigns elsewhere in Southeast Asia
  • With the head of SEA CA campaigns, producing and updating a project plan for political engagement, monitoring timelines with the goal of tracking project tasks to completion
  • Leading on senior government stakeholder engagement in relation to the dog and cat meat trade and general animal welfare issues in consultation with the Dog and Cat Meat Trade team, including arranging stakeholder meetings and consultations
  • Understanding and analysing Cambodian policy instruments and processes, particularly those related to animal health and welfare
  • With the DCMT SEA Team, working on development of DCMT reporting tool and communicating outputs to local and national government stakeholders
  • Assisting in the development of advocacy and public awareness campaigns in Southeast Asia, including Cambodia
  • Supporting in project management and coordination of activities to achieve the campaign outcomes working as part of an international team, tracking, measurement, evaluation and reporting on campaign KPI’s and key milestones
  • Press activities and spokesperson duties when required for dog and cat meat trade and other animal welfare issues in Cambodia
  • Stay apprised of media clippings within Cambodia pertaining to the dog and cat meat trade and update the Dog and Cat Meat Trade campaign team on important developments
  • Contributing to investigation/research projects into specific animal welfare issues as needed.
  • Arranging and compiling input from team members and other consultants in Cambodia
  • Keeping abreast of current trends in both companion animal welfare and international campaigning
  • Supporting the campaigns department in other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Your profile ideally illustrates:
  • Relevant experience of working on projects of campaigns in South-East Asia, with experience in animal-related projects considered an advantage
  • A Bachelors’ degree, ideally in Government relations, Law, Public Policy, Campaign Management, Political Science, Animal Science or related fields
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Khmer is essential. Knowledge of Vietnamese/Thai would be an additional advantage
  • Good project management and organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Experience of advocacy with government stakeholders would be advantageous
  • Existing relationships with stakeholders in the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and/or Cambodian Ministry of Health would be an added advantage
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent skills in standard Microsoft Office Applications
  • Willingness to travel and to work as part of an international team
  • Great affinity to animal welfare and FOUR PAWS vision and mission
  • Cambodian citizen or alternatively resident with visa deemed applicable for work permit
