SOS Children’s Village in Cambodia is the members of umbrella organization of the global federation of SOS Children’s Village. As a non-governmental, social development organization, we support children without adequate parental care and families where children are at risk of losing parental care due to various difficulties. SOS Children’s Village uphold child rights and help children grow up with capable caregiver through the services in care, education, health, and emergency relief. We also advocate for the right of children and young people, in alliance with great diversity of partners.

Job Summary

A Child Development Facilitator or SOS Children’s Village Counselor is a member of a project team. The overall responsibility of Child Development Facilitator is to diversify and collaborate with the educational services providers, and tutoring in subjects like math, science etc. In particular the Child Development Facilitator will assist the village Director in the field of psychologies, actively encourage in organizing educational program for children and mothers and be responsible for all funds to them for official work and they will require maintaining and rending proper account for the same.

Duties
  • Assists mothers and children in resolving their inter-personal, educational, health issues and other problems by providing guideline and counseling when required
  • Identifies and coordinates with relevant partners for selection of children, ensures all necessary documents obtained, sufficient of material, health and safety, creates plan for growth, and monitoring on children's daily schooling.
  • Coordinates with schools, hospitals and other agencies for proper placement of each child for education, career plans and health care on a regular basis
  • Diversifies and organizes variety of children’s activities, games, sports, hobby and library facilities as well as outdoor visits for recreation
  • Maintains and follows up on personal records of each child on health, education, special interests and incident.
  • Initiates and develops new programs for benefit of all children and organizes creative activities to promote talented potentials
  • Performs all such other duties entrusted to him or her by the village director for the care of children, mothers and proper maintenance of the village
  • Co-operates with SOS mothers on preparation of child development planning, priorities and tactical execution.
  • Ensures that SOS mothers receive support such as remedial, special needs and educational programs
  • Be responsible for the child-admission process. Ensures all necessary documents related to legal compliance be obtained with closed collaboration with biological family or local authorities.
  • Be resposible for the child-reunification or child-integration process as a child’s case manager
  • Facilitates or participates in any meetings/trainings organized within the village related to educational program by instruction from village director
  • Produces reports such as, weekly, monthly and on ad-hoc manner when required by village director.
Requirements
  • QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • University Degree in Psychology or relevant field
  • Communication and facilitation skills required
  • High commitment to the SOS Children's Village core Values, vision and mission
  • Experience working with children a must
  • Good written and spoken English, and Khmer language and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and good writing skills
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and after 8 hours
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience with NGO
  • Good interpersonal skills, and teamwork
  • PREFERRED
  • Advanced degree in a related field, i.e. social development and child’s development
  • Prior experience living and/or working with children, or in communities
  • Prior experience working with children, schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
