JOB SUMMARY

An Educator or SOS Children’s Village Counselor is a member of a project team. The overall responsibility of educator such as diversify and collaborate with the educational services providers, and tutoring in subjects like math, science etc. In particular, the Educator will assist the village Director in the field of pedagogies, actively encourage in organizing educational program for children and mothers and be responsible for all funds to them for official work and they will require maintaining and rending proper account for the same.

Duties
  • Assist mothers and children in resolving their inter-personal, educational, health and other problems by provide guideline and counseling when required
  • Identify and coordinate with relevant partner for selection of children, ensure all necessary documents obtained, sufficient of material, health and safety, create plan for growth, and monitoring on children's daily schooling.
  • Coordinate with schools, hospital and other agencies for proper placement of each child for education, career plans and health care on a regular basis
  • Diversify and organize variety of children’s activities, games, sports, hobby and library facilities as well as outdoor visits for recreation
  • Maintain and follow up on personal records of each child on health, education, special interests and incident.
  • Initiate and develop new programs for benefit of all children and organize creative activities to promote talented potentials
  • Perform all such other duties entrusted to him or her by the village director for the care of children, mothers and proper maintenance of the village
  • Co-operate with SOS mothers on preparation of child development planning, priorities and tactical execution.
  • Ensure that SOS mothers receive support such as remedial, special needs and educational programs
  • Responsible for the child-admission process. Ensure all necessary documents related to legal compliance must obtain with closed collaboration with biological family or local authorities. 
  • Facilitate or participate in any meetings/trainings organized within the village related to educational program by instruction from village director
  • Producing of reports such as, weekly, monthly and on ad-hoc manner when required to village director.
  • ADDITIONAL WORK REQUIREMENTS
  • Receive cash, and keep in petty cash safe, maintain when receipted from accountant or project head on every Monday.
  • Keeping daily transaction in cash book, and clear out with accountant in accuracy manners
  • Check authorization, cash payment to suppliers and ensure all necessary document obtained for supporting.
  • Work out with accountant on cash count, balance and return to accountant at every Friday of the week
Requirements
  • Gender: Female (Only)
  • University Degree in education required
  • Cambodia National ages 25 and up, who is committed to the SOS Children’s Village Values
  • Qualification in pedagogy, Teacher Training level is a plus
  • Communication and facilitation skills required
  • High commitment to the SOS Children's Village Core Values, vision and mission
  • Experience working with children a must
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, and Khmer language and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and good writing skills
  • Computer literate in MS Word, Excel
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, after hour
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience with NGO
  • Good interpersonal skills, and teamwork
  • PREFERRED
  • Advanced degree in a related field, i.e. social development
  • Prior experience living and/or working with children, or in communities
  • Prior experience working with children, schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
