Conservation International-Cambodia Program (CI) has worked in Cambodia since 2002. CI has multiple conservation projects in the Central Cardamom Mountains National Park (CCMNP), Tonle Sap Great Lake, Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, and in the Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park. CI works in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, other international conservation and development organizations, local non-governmental organizations and the private sector.

Conservation International (CI) is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates based in CI Phnom Penh Office/Pursat province, Cambodia.

Announcement Positions

Tonle Sap Monitoring Coordinator (1 Position)

Duties
  • To coordinate, collaborate and cooperate with CI's partners including government counterparts, the private sector, community members and NGO partners in furthering the aims of the FFRBM and related projects.
  • To assist CI's broader program across donors and other landscape teams as needed. Coordinate with local researchers and local staff, donors and CI’s guests, including making logistical arrangements.
  • Collect and collate monitoring data collected to measure the success of CI’s livelihood intervention and conservation activities on the Tonle Sap Lake. Prepare for the results of research and monitoring activities for publication as factsheets, blogs, posters, and social media posts.
  • Coordinate and work with the Tonle Sap team to strengthen Community Fisheries (CFi) capacity building, help develop CFi workplans and participate in stakeholder meetings to ensure that CFi development is progressing towards the objectives of our strategy and needs of individual projects.
  • Coordinate and train local community members in monitoring their natural resources and collecting a range of biological, social, and economic data.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Academic background in conservation biology, natural sciences and/or natural resource management- minimum BSc level.
  • 2 - 4 years of related work experience, preferably in the conservation, and NGOs.
  • Experience in a lead support role desired.
  • Knowledge of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity.
  • Experience in research and monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a difficult floodplain environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Solid attention to detail and strong research and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, web research, and related skills.
  • Ability to function well in a multicultural, diverse, and fast-paced work team environment.
  • Comfortable managing multiple duties and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and take initiative to solve problems under supervisor direction.
  • ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in conservation work and community development in Cambodia.
  • Experience with project management and implementation.
  • Experience in research technique and report writing.
  • Experience working in NGOs.
  • Experience in using mobile data collection apps, including SMART patrolling.
  • Local knowledge of the Tonle Sap Lake.
 

Monitoring Project Assistant (1 Position)

Duties
  • Provide logistical support and assistance to the Tonle Sap Monitoring Coordinator and other team members to directly collect, and coordinate the community collection of social, biological, and livelihood monitoring data.
  • Assist in monitoring partner Community Fisheries Organization’s activities associated with their management and action plans.
  • Enter monitoring data into a central database.
  • Support donor specific data entry and narrative reporting requirements.
  • Assist in awareness raising of project activities with partner communities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Commitment to protecting Cambodia’s natural environment.
  • Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a difficult floodplain environment.
  • Fluent spoken and written Khmer and intermediate spoken and written English.
  • Willingness to obtain new skills.
  • High School or Secondary School education.
  • Up to 2 years of related work experience, preferably in the conservation, NGO, or advocacy arena.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, web research, and related skills.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented and able to prioritize, manage and complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Service focus. Courteous, tactful, and proven ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and take initiative to solve problems under supervisor direction.
  • Ability to function well in a multicultural, diverse, and fast-paced work team environment.
  • ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Assist in monitoring and mentoring women’s savings groups on business development, financial management and data collection.
  • Provide logistical support and assistance to the Tonle Sap team, supporting the Families and Fisheries Resilience Building community livelihood development activities.
  • Support and assist the Tonle Sap Monitoring Coordinator and other team members to directly collect and coordinate the community collection of social, economic, and livelihood monitoring data.
  • Assist in awareness raising of project activities with partner communities.
  • Under their supervisor's direction support donor specific data entry and narrative reporting requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
