Our Literacy Program trains and coaches teachers, creates quality books and curricular materials and establishes libraries filled with diverse children’s books in local languages that can be enjoyed at school or home. Our Girls’ Education Program helps girls build skills to succeed in secondary school and make key life decisions by providing life skills curriculum, opportunities for mentorship and peer support, and family and community engagement. Room to Read collaborates with local communities, partner organizations and governments to test and implement innovative models that can be integrated into the education system to deliver positive outcomes for children at scale. To date, Room to Read has reached 23 million children in 37,000 communities across Bangladesh, Cambodia, Grenada, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Vietnam and Zambia, and plans to benefit 40 million children by 2025. Literacy Program Officer, IDTS (1 Position)

Position Overview

The Literacy Program Officer is a member of the Instructional Design and Teacher Support Unit (“IDTS”). He/she is responsible for supporting Sr. Program Officer to lead the Technical Working Group to adapt/develop the national In-service Library Package to integrate in the national pre-service core syllabus and use in the national pre-service program across the country. These include the development of the implementation plan, coordinate with relevant MoEYS departments, TWG and NGOs to ensure reviewing/adapting of materials, developing training materials, ToTs training and support the training delivery to teacher trainers at the Teacher Training Colleges. This position will also be responsible for adapting/developing some materials to train the District Resource Persons (DRP) and to train the relevant Room to Read staff such as Literacy Facilitators, etc. on supporting the DRPs. He/she requires to travel to observe the pre-service work in the Techer Training Colleges. This position will report to the Senior Program Officer.

 

Girls’ Education Program Associate (1 Position)

Position Overview:

The Girls’ Education Program Associate (GEP PA) will be responsible for carrying out all activities for Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program including surveying, program implementation, program visit and follow up, monitoring, training, program reporting. This position will involve frequent travel to assigned Room to Read province of assigned targets, as well as regular interaction with students and teachers, school director, POE and DOE officials for implementing the Program. The position will report to the Girls’ Education Program Officer.
