School Principal for International School (Khmer national) (1 Position)

Pal Buddhist School will open its first Cambodian branch in Siem Reap in 2022. We are looking to recruit a Principal to be the local manager, working closely with the founding team in Sydney, Australia. This position is suitable for Cambodian people who have been educated overseas with a strong command in written and spoken English. The candidate should have some experience in business management or educational leadership. The ideal candidate is someone willing to expand their professional knowledge and skills in Western education system, whilst having a passion to maintain the Eastern culture and values in our youngsters. We are looking for global thinkers and hard workers, willing to learn and be trained by our Australian education team.

Duties
  • Facilitate the delivery of the school’s curriculum, working directly with faculty to ensure that teachers know, understand, and teach the approved curriculum
  • Experience teaching second language learners
  • Knowledge of and experience in using inquiry based instruction and differentiated instructional strategies
  • Monitors, evaluates and reviews the assessment strategies used in conjunction with the curriculum to ensure that all teachers know, understand and use the school’s assessment guidelines.
  • Contributes to and participates in the development of a school-wide strategic plan and yearly education goals
  • Collaborates with the Australian Branch on the recruitment and retention of school faculty and staff
  • Oversees the professional development and performance improvement of staff
  • Serves as a parent/community liaison
  • Designs and implements in conjunction with the other school administrators the staff orientation program
  • Screens all student candidates for admission in support of the Admissions Officer and makes recommendations for admission based upon a review of appropriate records and reports
  • Develops policies that promote student achievement
  • Oversees student assessment and reporting of assessments to parents
  • Monitors student progress and ensuring all students are supported
  • Works with students, teachers, parents, and counselors to address student behavior
  • Serves on various standing and ad hoc committees at the school level
  • Liaises and maintains a productive, on-going dialog with parents
  • Facilitates parent-teacher meetings and meets with parent representatives and volunteers as required
  • Assists in the development of an annual school operating budget
  • Oversees resource ordering, monitoring and budget control for the school
  • Organizes meetings, committees, social events
  • Extra-curricular activities (Camps, field trips, clubs..)
  • Attendance (tracks student and teacher attendance and deals with issues as they arise)
  • Student supervision, discipline, and counseling
  • Implementation of school and board policies
  • Establishment of procedures for the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the school
  • Ensuring the health and safety of students and staff
Requirements
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English and Khmer
  • Hold a Bachelor or Masters in Education/Teaching or Business Management
  • At least 2 years experience working in professional environment
  • Expert use of computers and technology (including 60wpm+ typing speed and advanced use of Microsoft Office)
  • Passion and love for Buddhism
  • Hold and carry the 5 Buddhist precepts
  • An open-mind and willingness to learn
  • Willing to work hard and make commitment of their time
