Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Manage office services, office supplies/equipment/tools, infirmary, building maintenance and security system.

  • To guide, coach and train the personnel at manufacturing facility liaising with external parties on all corporate

Product Development Manager

  • Responsibilities:
  • Merchandiser is responsible from order analysis to on time shipment, execute the orders perfectly as per the customer quality requirements and meeting our cost.
  • To arrange product sample and materials for customer approval on time for production.
  • Ensure order profitability, by purchasing the right material quality at the right cost and delivery on time for production.
  • Job scope:

  • To create sample request or purchase order in ERP and sent to supplier.
  • To acknowledge received of sample material on sender packing list or invoice, make a copy and collect or make arrangement to collect the items from reception goods holding area

  • To take picture and upload the received material color/pattern swatch on to Sample Request in ERP.
  • Sewing trims including thread received are kept in the sample bin and arrange sample trim to be preshrunk if needed.

  • Upon returning of embellishment panel and receiving of all trims, Merchandiser to move the Bin to "For Sew" holding area.
  • Upon the return of sample from wet & dry process work, put sample in Bin and move Bin to "FOR FINISHING" holding area.
  • To discuss with PD manager and Technical Executive on fabric limitations from fabric supplier and work out the best way to produce the most efficiency marker suitable for bulk production.
  • To coordinate fabric, garment panel, or sew trail or mockup sample, with sample supervisor and pass to embellishment house to do trial sampling.

  • To create BOM, APD and Sample request (Booking) in ERP. (Measurement point refer to buyer’s Handbook in Customer master profile)
  • To upload and attached buyer’s Technical Package in ERP according to sample type
  • Fabric Approval & Purchase
  • To do material planning to auto create fabric purchase orders (PO), check link BOM consumption and link buyer’s Po quantity (include & exclude function) for correctness and send for Merchandising Manager or Senior merchandiser verification in ERP
  • To arrange bulk fabric submission to customer for quality and color approval in a timely manner.
  • Merchandiser to make arrangement with fabric supplier to courier first bulk fabric dye lot sample fabric for PP sample making in Product Development Center (PD). The requested first bulk fabric dye lot sample fabric can be in Full color way or nominated color depending on the buyer demand.
  • To follow up and ensure bulk fabric are delivered according to “T&A “and on time for production.
  • Sewing Trims & Packaging Material Approval & Purchase
  • To do accessory material planning to auto create sewing trims and packaging materials purchase orders (PO), check link BOM consumption and link buyer’s Po quantity (include & exclude function) for correctness and send for Merchandising Manager or Senior merchandiser approval in ERP.
  • To arrange Bulk Sewing Trims & Packaging Material submission to customer for quality and color approval in a timely manner.
  • To arrange Bulk Sewing Trims & Packaging Materials for Pre-production Sample (PP) making.
  • To follow up and ensure bulk Sewing Trims & Packaging Material are delivered according to “T&A “and on time for production.
  • Follow up
  • To update order approval progress in Merchandising Tracking in ERP, which are share view by related department, especially factory order controller.
  • To check link product cycle time (cutting SAM, sewing & packing SMV, pick & pack SAM) information for correctness
  • Shortfall
  • Receive information on material over consumption and estimate shortfall quantity,
  • Inform buyer, if buyer accept the shortfall shipment quantity, to initiate claim against supplier.
  • Inform buyer, if buyer do not accept the shortfall shipment quantity, to work with fabric supplier on the replacement.

MERCHANDISER must attach, buyer comments, revised tech pack in ERP. print a hard copy of the new request and comments, write the date on every pages of details and attached on top of the old request onto the envelope. Merchandiser then begins the sampling process once again by placing the bin containing sample, materials and envelope in sampling queue ("first in / first out").
  • Sample Approved: upon receiving information on sample approved from buyer,
  • Clarify with Agent/Buyer on the comments immediately

  • To work with Business Development Manager to study and understand the products, ensure our factory have the capabilities to handle the product.
  • To assign merchandiser team to take up new product development follow-up, brief the team on the require T & A and material supplier's information.
  • To manage the merchandising team to ensure sample delivery to buyer on time.
  • Order Confirmation (SOC)
  • To create SOC with order details such as itemize material cost, SMV, cm cost, transportation cost, picture, generate soc number and send to COO for approval in ERP.
  • The merchandising team that do product development follow-up will take responsibility of the confirmed order follow-up, if not, to assign new Merchandiser team to take up new confirm order follow-up.
  • Set customer “Time & Action Calendar (T&A)” template in ERP for the team to follow up on orders.
  • To manage merchandising team to ensure the team follow customer’s protocol, process flows and updates of WIP into customers’ systems
  • Purchase
  • To source for latest materials, embellishment, wet /dry process trend cost from ERP.
  • To ensure accuracy and be accountability on the purchase delivery, quantity, quality and prices.
  • To do or verify fabric material planning to auto create fabric purchase orders (MPO) by checking BOM-fabric consumption, mini marker, fabric specification and unit price for correctness in ERP.
  • To verify sewing trims and packaging materials planning to auto create accessory purchase orders (APO) by checking accessory consumption, specification and unit price for correctness in ERP.
  • To look into order profitability, by keeping purchase budget within or less than the 1st Sales confirmation (SOC). To call out on purchasing item out of budget to Business Development Manager and Top Management for a direction.

  • To work with MR to proposed the over plan to cut quantity to buyer for acceptance of any plan cut quantity above buyer given tolerance.(This is to maximize the earning by fully utilize the materials purchase and not to keep the materials as stock and sell as stock at 15% of the purchase price.)
  • To get daily update on the materials utilization from store and cutting section to ensure materials are enough for the whole order.
  • To track the replacement quantity, ensuring cutting section replace all the needed color and size as the order progress.
  • To report any additional or shortages in cut quantity to Factory Manager and inform the Merchandiser accordance to Factory Manager Decisions.
  • To ensure Cutting team closed the order by doing the cutting completion report when IA order is completed. (This will update the PMS WIP to show all party concerns the final cut quantity.)
  • To ensure Sewing Trims store supervisor arrange his team of General Workers (Production) to follow Production line plan in PMS, to move the Kanban Bin from:
  • Cutting section to sewing trims store to collect Sewing trims.
  • Sewing trims store to make arrangement with embellishment contractors to collect Bins for embellishment works and sent back to Sewing trims store for embellishment audit.
  • Sewing trims store to issue Sewing Trims and move bins to Sewing line holding area.
  • To get daily update on the production status (WIP) from cut—sew--finish--pick & pack--carton. Including out sourcing and cut-piece or garment embellishment and wet & dry garment process if any.
  • To conduct audit check at each production stage or operation to ensure instructions are followed to produce the right and safe quality product every time and quantity meets buyer demand. The findings are record in Order Audit Summary Report (Appx.5.1.8) or in PMS Q module.
  • To work with support services company to reserve production space according to sewing production plan. If the order is with cut-piece or Garment Embellishment or Wet & Dry Process.
  • To disseminate the product quality requirement and standards information to Quality Coordinator/Auditor and embellishment production team.
  • To arrange for buyer or self-approval on cut-piece or Garment Embellishment or Wet & Dry Process pre-production sample before bulk production, if bulk embellishment production shows quality not according to approved pre-production sample. To raise quality issues to factory manager to study the case and give solutions.
  • To follow up with the support Service Provider on work in progress, ensuring work continuity and its production outputs are able to support the sewing line plan.
  • To provide Embellishment Service Provider daily work in progress quantity to Planner.
  • To provide internal approved embellishment or wet & dry process sample swatch to General Worker to conduct quality audit check.
  • To guide, monitor and empower store General Worker to conduct 15% quality audit check on the embellishment or wet & dry process product to know the defective and out of tolerance measurement %.
  • To follow with store supervisor to ensure Embellishment Service Provider to make good the defective panels by doing touch up work or replace defective panels with good one using remnant fabric.
  • To work with Order coordinator to arranges making of top samples and to deliver to the respective merchandiser or buyer. (The TOP samples are a critical process, it must be send to buyer for approval 10 days before shipment.)
  • To provide QA file and work closely with Buyer Quality Auditor to understand the quality requirements and standards, disseminate product quality requirement and standards information to in-house QA, QI and production team.
  • To provide, updated production status (WIP) and shipment schedule to Buyer QA.
  • To make arrangement with Buyer QA to conduct inline and final inspection and update the dates in Shipment schedule.
  • To arrange Order Coordinators to work with Buyer QA during their visit and to give a helping hand to them when needed, including conducting final inspection on behalf of Buyer QA. The results is updated in shipment schedule:
  • Passed quality inspection, to signed final reports and collect inspection certificate if any.
  • Failed quality inspection, to inform Factory Manager for further action.
  • To follow up with the Pick & Pack Leader on the final packing list and packing completion report. (Final packing list must be equal or more than the cut plan or cut quantity in color and size.)
