STRUCTURAL ASSIGNMENT

A key scientific reference on major development issues and an internationally recognized multidisciplinary organization, the Research Institute for Development is a French public establishment placed under the dual supervision of the ministry in charge of higher education, research, and innovation and that of Europe and foreign affairs. For more than 75 years, it has carried out an original approach to research, expertise, training, and knowledge sharing for the benefit of territories and countries which make science and innovation one of the primary levers of their development. Nearly 40% of the Institute's staff are assigned abroad and overseas.

ASSIGNMENT STRUCTURE (UMR, UAR, Representation, Management, service, etc.)

The UMR MIVEGEC 'Infectious Diseases and Vectors: Ecology, Genetics, Evolution and Control' conducts integrative and transdisciplinary research at the interface between the sciences of ecology, evolution, and medicine to understand the mechanisms of emergence and diffusion of pathogens in ecosystems, study their transmission and their impacts on host populations and communities and their environment, and propose innovative tools and strategies for sustainable management of epidemics. Research is carried out at all levels of organization of life, from molecules to ecosystems, at different time scales, from acute or immediate responses to chronic or lasting developments, and in different areas in Europe and tropical zones. This research is based on the internationally recognized expertise of our teams on numerous biological models (arthropod vectors, arboviruses and zoonoses, chronic infections and cancers, etc.), on various methods (monitoring of populations and communities, genetics, genomics, experiments, mathematical modeling, etc.) as well as on ecological and evolutionary processes (genotype-genotype-environment interactions, host jumping, virulence, resistance, adaptation, plasticity, etc.).
