Reports to
- Reports directly to the Senior Social Worker, with an additional reporting line to the Centre Manager (one level up) for overall operational matters.
- Functional report to Head of Social Department for technical support & specific social matters.
Responsible for
All social topics related to their assigned social programs & projects, including:
- Identifying and understanding the needs of the children and families.
- Visiting families to ensure alignment with EDM’s policy.
- Following-up their education and helping for their studies orientation, through a personalised approach.
- Respecting Child Rights and Protection policies, as well as EDM rules and values.
- Work in collaboration with other EDM centers on matters related to social services in Cambodia.
Working hours: 40hs / week – Monday to Friday + occasionally during weekends for events.

And 75% on the field for regular missions (most of them are daily missions).
PURPOSE
Enfants du Mékong supports vulnerable families with a strong focus on education. The Social Worker plays a key role in interacting directly with children, families, local authorities, schools, and program partners to ensure the well-being, academic progress, and long-term development of sponsored children.
- Social Work & Sponsorship Programs
- Manage assigned programs: O Mal (007-121), Battambang (007-132), Lahok Pi/Pailin (007-44), CINTRI (007-505), and Banan (007-509).
- Conduct a minimum of one home visit per family each year (more if required) to assess health, hygiene, income, migration, and education, and prepare follow-up reports.
- Monitor students’ academic performance through school visits, attendance checks, small exams, and notebook reviews.
- Facilitate communication between sponsored children and their godparents, including collecting and distributing letters.
- Support recruitment of new students: verify information, organize exams in villages, prepare application files, and present cases to the Program Manager.
- Maintain strong relationships with teachers, volunteers, and local authorities.
- Ensure a good understanding of each program's context to support sustainable assistance.
- Monthly Distributions
- Update and verify distribution lists.
- Organize educational activities, share important updates, and check on students’ well-being.
- Collect and review letters every three months before sending them for translation; distribute letters received from godparents.
- Record observations and feedback after each distribution.
- Responsibilities in the Battambang Foyers
- Ensure adherence to center and foyer rules.
- Support students’ motivation, academic effort, and future orientation.
- Participate in daily life at the boarding house, including dinners, evening study supervision, and maintaining cleanliness with students.
- Organize recreational and educational activities.
- Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding student concerns and progress.
- Lunch, dinner, accommodation, private insurance, and all benefits required by Cambodian labor law.
- English - Good
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field
- Master's Degree is preferred
- Experience in social work, community development, education, or youth programs for 2 years as a minimum
- Strong understanding of issues affecting vulnerable families and children.
- Ability to design and implement educational or life-skills activities.
- Ability to conduct home visits with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
- Capacity to provide academic support and guidance to students.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic reporting tools.
- Ability to supervise students during night hours.
- Ability to ride a motorbike for field missions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
