Bayon Education & Development NGO, usually called “Bayon School” in English or “Ecole du Bayon” in French”, is a local NGO that has been registered with the Ministry of Interior (MOI) of Cambodia on March 25, 2015, which is under fully financial supporting from Ecole du Bayon NGO in France.

Bayon Education & Development NGO is a qualified education development organization with programs focused on two main areas:

  • A Khmer General Education for the Poorest Children.
  • A Technical Vocational Education & Training for young people from the disadvantaged family of Cambodia.

Bayon Education & Development NGO operates its several programs in Cambodia which head office is located at Taphul road, Sangkat Svay Dangkun, Krong Siem Reap, Siem Reap province, Kingdom of Cambodia. Presently, Bayon School is working on four important programs as follow:

  • Primary school program: provide free education for children from kindergarten to grade 6.
  • Follow-up student program for lower and upper secondary school students. And provide university scholarships for students after successfully finished grade 12.
  • Pastry school program: we provide vocational training (TVET) in pastry and bakery skills for around 25 underprivileged women every year.
  • Green farming program: Its objective is to involve families of students of the primary school to grow organic vegetables on their land and family income generation.
  • Agroecology school is a new project inside of the green farming program designed to provide free vocational training in agroecology skills for youth people from disadvantaged families about 10 to 25 trainees a year.

Position Summary

Main Job Duties

His/her overall duties are main responsible for executing the cycle or routine tasks of the social programs of Bayon Pastry School and Bayon Agroecology School “Vocational and Technical Education & Training (TVET)" following the guidelines or strategy of the NGO such as new student selection for fulfill the program requirement, managing students living in the school center and student affairs, support students internship and job placement for the TVET schools, teach students for the subject of soft skills, manage two caretakers for Agroecology school, organize the extra-curricular, and managing Alumni list, etc.

Also, she/he is assigned to support the social work for the primary school program, especially support the annual family visit and some specific work following the job descriptions.

He/she is under the direct supervision of School Directors for both TVET schools and reports operational to the hierarchy position such as Deputy Executive Director and Executive Director of NGO.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the student's selection for the TVET schools following the target demand and criteria of selection which will be determined by the Management and Boards.
  • In support of the line manager, lead the team for yearly new students’ selection for the TVET school programs.
  • Create strategy plans and planning to collect the right applicants that match the social criteria of the NGO.
  • Participate and support the line manager in reviewing and updating the selection policy and processing, including the social criteria based on the real situation of the NGO.
  • Be representative of NGO for student selection including organizing the selection presentation to NGO partners, promoting the selection and delivery of the application form, collecting application form, arranging selection committee for a family visit, arranging testing and oral interview, and other processing of selection policy.
  • Coordinating for the new intake (facilitation for the arrival of new students in Pastry school).
  • Manage the student living (dormitory matters), including supervision of two caretakers.
  • Build a good connection with the medical team regarding the student's health matters and hygiene kits.
  • Allowance distribution for students bi-weekly.
  • Purchase such as dormitory materials for both TVET school students and other necessary things during the academic year (study material and uniform are under the workload of the vocational team and the staff t-shirt uniform is under the workload of the administration team).
  • Conduct the counseling & coaching students for any matters faced.
  • Purchase canteen stuff for the Agroecology School students uses for the weekend and public holidays.
  • Conduct regular meetings (bi-weekly or weekly meetings) with the students for both schools in order to understand the situations and need from the students.
  • Manage the working schedule for the caretakers to ensure the working smooth.
  • Conduct the weekly meeting with the Caretakers to understand the situation and seeking the support and improvement of the student’s safety living in the dormitory.
  • Supervisions: provide a clear JD for the staff, task assign and delegation, follow-up and control, and staff evaluation, etc.
  • Teach and coordinate the soft skills training for both TVET schools (totally 6 credits = 90hours for both schools).
  • Prepare teaching plans and lessons for teaching compliance with the program curriculums.
  • Soft skills teaching backup for the TVET school students of 6 credits (workshop training oriented), as well facilitate to get external experience trainers for volunteering teaching of this soft skills training.
  • Provide the testing to students and correct the test for each module.
  • Support the director and school director for the student internship program for both TVET schools including facilities for the student living at the company’s workplace.
  • In cooperation with the school director, prepare and review the student’s internship agreement with hotel partners.
  • Arrange the visit of the hotels or companies for both TVET schools before sending students for the internship.
  • Coordinating for the first time to bring students to go to the internship such as preparing allowance, transportation, accommodation, etc.
  • Collect the contribution funds from the hotels and companies for students’ internships, such as issuing invoices and clear invoices and cash with the finance team monthly.
  • Collect certificate of recommendation for students from HR of the hotels and companies.
  • Together with the school director, support the student job placement program by focusing on the facilities for the students integrated out of the center to outside lives, especially for the first time.
  • Support the school director in coordinating for any job interviews (everywhere!) and job applications following information received from the school director and line managers, etc.
  • Coordinating students’ integration from the school to outside living after graduation such as assisting students to find the proper accommodation to live at the workplace, preparing final allowance for the students, and transportation.
  • Coordinate the extra-curricular (outside school activities) for the students such as visiting the hotel, football, visiting the temples, and other entertainment activities for the students by comprehensive the team spirit, collaboration, get a new idea, etc.
  • Support social work primary school program beneficiaries
  • Support the pupil selection process for the primary school program.
  • Support an annual family visit for the primary school program beneficiaries.

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Social Sciences (social work, psychology or other related fields).
  • At least has 2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar organization and position.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interested in people and creating trustful relationships with young students.
  • Good team spirit, dedicated and ready to help people.
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, internet, email) with Khmer and International keyboard.
  • Good English level (speaking, listening and writing) – English is the working language at the office.
  • Strong interest in development in NGOs sectors.
  • Independent and high responsibility person.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Friendly (professional in communication)
  • Strong in commitment to accomplish the tasks to meet the deadline.
  • Strong knowledge of technical vocational training and education system (TVET) of Cambodia.A person willing to work under pressure and multi-functions.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Full time Fixed duration contract (FDC) for one year with 3 months of trail period.
