Senior Research Fellow
Functional Summary
The Senior Research Fellow will work with Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI) and report to the Director of CERI or Director of Research of CDRI. He/she will undertake independent and/or collaborative research, and lead on aspects of research strategy, engagement, and resource mobilisation within CDRI. He/she will contribute to the development and implementation of research projects in three key areas:
- Research, publication and impact;
- Research funding opportunities; and
- Professional and capacity development.
- Research, Publication and Impact:
- Independently undertake/support research projects and/or manage team contributions to the project;
- Lead the production of high-quality research reports and/or publications as required by the project or for the dissemination to the stakeholders, partners, and decision makers;
- Write short perspective or blogs on various policy issues for CDRI website and media outlets;
- Write CDR articles, policy briefs and working papers for CDRI in-house publications;
- Provide technical support and advice to ensure effective implementation of research projects;
- Review and ensure quality of the research publications of the project;
- Ensure projects’ deliverables are met in a timely manner.
- Research Funding Opportunities:
- Identify new research opportunities and write/contribute to grant proposals for submission to grant agencies and calls;
- Lead in bids for major research grants and/or consultancy projects;
- Advise the team members of trends, developments, and issues relevant to the centre’s areas of focus;
- Advise the research team on grant proposal development.
- Professional and Capacity Development
- Deliver capacity-building and mentorship programs to CDRI researchers;
- Support CDRI researchers to produce quality research reports and papers;
- Supervise and mentor research team members and interns working on the research projects.
- Postgraduate degree in education or other related social sciences (PhD is preferred)
- 10 years of work experience in research institutions or think tanks, with focus on policy research.
- Proven track record of producing high-quality policy-oriented and socio-economic research and analysis of local and international development issues.
- Expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodology.
- Field experience in transferring technical skills and knowledge to national counterparts.
- A sound analytical grasp of local and international development issues affecting Cambodia and the region.
- Strong commitment to the professional development of team members and experience in mentoring and providing training and capacity building activities on research and any other related field.
- Experience in writing and applying for research grant.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Khmer, both oral and written.
Research Assistant
Functional Summary
The Research Assistant (Centre for Education Research and Innovation) to be based in the Centre for Education Research and Innovation of CDRI.
- Conduct field visits, organise engagement and deployment of enumerators and data entry and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data as specified by team leaders.
- Assist and facilitate regular preparation of reports and proposals.
- Perform research data cleaning, input and processing.
- Prepare outputs and write up interview notes, meeting minutes, and facilitate general administrative support to the research team.
- Provide inputs during the research design and contribute to literature review and report writing.
- Assist in the formulation of programme strategies, action plan and budget.
- Provide administration and finance service, keep centre records.
- Support effective communication, knowledge building and knowledge sharing, and collaboration of tasks and mobilisation of resources.
- Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree is an advantage) in education, social sciences, or a related field;
- 1 - 2 years of relevant research and administrative experience is desirable.
- Some understanding of quantitative/qualitative research methods.
- Some experience with data analysis and visualization.
- Keen interest in social research related to education.
- Good communication skills in Khmer and English, both oral and written
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure;
- Willingness to learn and to carry out fieldwork involving in-country travel to rural areas.
Research Fellow

Functional Summary
The Research Fellow (Center for Education Research and Innovation) to be based in the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation of CDRI.
- Lead and take part in the design and implementation of research projects (conceptualization, methodology, fieldwork management, data analysis, report writing, publications, and dissemination activities).
- Identify new opportunities and develop research proposals for submission to granting agencies.
- Contribute to the Center’s strategy development and implementation of the work plan and budget.
- Coach, mentor and supervise junior researchers and team members.
- Build and sustain relations and strategic partnerships with government counterparts, donors, researchers, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration, generate and share learning, raise the profile and attract new potential funding.
- Contribute to technical reports, research briefs, and peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Contribute to capacity-building activities and prepare training materials and other documentation, as required.
- Advanced degree in Education, Development Studies, Development Economics, or closely related fields (A PhD degree is preferred).
- At least three-year experience in research or research-related fields.
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in analytical software including STATA, SPSS, R, Nvivo, etc.
- Commitment in mentoring and professional development of young researchers.
- Abilities to communicate findings and strong communication skills in English and Khmer, both oral and written.

Finance Officer
Functional Summary
The Finance Officer plays a key role in managing our project’s financial operations. The finance Officer will strictly comply with organisational policies and relevant laws, supporting financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and auditing processes. This role is instrumental in facilitating the effective use of resources in line with CDRI’s mission
- Financial Management:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reporting
- Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Overseas accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and compliance.
- Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
- Budgeting and forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
- Monitor budget performance and report variances to management
- Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and donors.
- Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements and assist in the preparation of financial statements.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Coordinate external audits, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Implement Financial controls and procedure to mitigate risks.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other units/centres to provide financial insights and support for project implementation.
- Train and support staff on financial procedures and best practices.

- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experiences in finance or accounting.

Research Associate
The Research Associate to be based in the Centre for development Economics and Trade of CDRI.
- Research: Lead and Take initiative to
- Prepare materials for research ethics application/review
- Initiate the research project with a comprehensive study of research objective and methodology.
- Conduct literature reviews
- Prepare interview questions, summarize interview, collect and analyse data.
- Fieldwork implementation: conducting surveys and interviews
- Maintain accurate record of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects as necessary
- Translate research publication.
- Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project.
- Prepare and/or contribute to project articles, reports and presentations.
- Perform project budget and work plan monitoring
- Proposal/Grant development
- Develop proposals for submission to granting agencies and calls.
- Contribute to writing some parts of a proposal.
- Administration and Management
- Manage and respond to project-related emails
- Prepare progress reports for team leaders and funding agency
- Attend project meeting, seminars and other meetings as necessary.
- Co-lead and monitor project activities
- Coordinate event/facilitate organisation (ie. Consultation workshop, and disseminate workshop)
- External committee membership (Donors, government or CSOs)
- Supervision:
- Supervise research assistant/interns working on the research project (maintaining records on assignment completion, acting as liaison/mediator between assistant/interns and centre director)
- Advanced degree in Economics, trade, fiancé, economics development, public policy or closely related fields (A PhD degree is preferred).
- At least 3 years of research experience in economics, trade, finance, economic development, and economic policy.
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in analytical software, including STATA, R, MATLAB, Nvivo, etc.
- Commitment to mentoring and professional development of young researchers.
- Abilities to communicate findings and strong communication skills in English and Khmer, both oral and written.
- Proven track record of policy and academic research publications.
- Experience with research grant writing.
