Research Assistant

Position Summary

Role Purpose

The Research Assistant will support the Evidence and Learning team of Save the Children in planning for research and evaluation activities, developing data collection tools and databases. The post holder will be using mobile data collection platforms and statistical databases for statistical data analyses, providing data collection training, managing and ensuring quality of data collection, preparing fieldworks and data processing, assisting in data analysis and report writing, and supporting the team in organizing data dissemination events.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours.

Contract length: Unspecified Duration Contract (UDC)

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Qualifications and experience
  • Completed Bachelor Degree in education, social work, psychology, sociology, demography, operations research, statistics, econometrics, economy, development studies, or related field of social science from internationally recognized universities
  • Essential
  • Good skill and knowledge in designing database to capture data using mobile applications such as KoBO, CSPro., or SurveyToGo.
  • Knowledge of statistical applications, particularly IBM SPSS Statistics and STATA.
  • Competent in checking for data consistency using related computer applications.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics, including data preparation for statistical analysis.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Good facilitation skill and team spirit.
  • Strong commitment to learning and sharing knowledge and skills.
  • Fast learner and willing to learn new things.
  • Innovative, proactive, and be able to lead the data processing team with little supervision.
  • Excellent English and Khmer (English writing and Khmer typing), and strongly confident in document translations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including advanced MS Excel.
  • Young professionals (including recently completed Master degree from internationally recognized university) are strongly encouraged, particularly those who have a gaol to pursue advanced career in research, impact evaluation using advanced statistical analyses and econometric modelling.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Cambodian nationality.
