Position Summary

Terms of contract:

  • Location: Phnom Penh
  • Starting date: October 2023
  • Contract: 1 month (renewable 1 year) / full-time

Benefits:

Work five days a week (from Monday to Friday), Seniority, Insurance, NSSF, Bonus.

Under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator, the psychologist is a member of the multidisciplinary team. As such, he/she is working in close collaboration with the medical, paramedical and administrative teams, to provide counselling and support adapted to the specific needs of DSF patients and their family members, at DSF facilities and at the patients ‘home. The psychologist also links with DSF partners in order to offer the most comprehensive and best suitable response.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Psychosocial support of patients and families
  • Conduct assessments of patients and their families to determine their psychological, emotional, spiritual, and social needs.
  • Provide counselling and support to patients and family members in accordance with these needs through individual, group or family consultations.
  • Participate in continuity of care plan by collaborating with medical and administrative teams.
  • Follow up and visit patients and their families at their home if needed (day missions and 1-to-4-night missions).
  • Educate patients and families about health rights, available resources and support systems.
  • Multidisciplinary work and networking
  • Link with the medical and paramedical team for ongoing case discussion and evaluation, patient advocacy, and treatment plans.
  • dentify relevant partners (institutions, NGOs, etc.) and build partnership for the referral of complex cases outside the scope of DSF or requiring specialized services (victims of abuse/violence, psychiatric needs, etc.).
  • Formalize referral procedures ensuring patients and family’s self-determination and right to confidentiality.
  • Training and capacity building
  • Identify good practices and establish guidelines for the support of DSF patients and their families.
  • Provide awareness and training sessions on palliative care and psychological support organized by DSF, to various partners such as Hospitals, CSOs, local or international NGOs, Universities.
  • Participate in the writing of documents, training material, guidelines or other supportive documents produced by DSF on psychological thematic.
  • Follow continuous training plan: o internal and external trainings on palliative care and psychological thematic, o academic readings and o case studies analysis and (group) discussion.

  • . Administration and data management
  • Update patients’ medical records and other related information.
  • Collect and consolidate data’s; monitor patients’ statistics.
  • Adhere to administrative directives related to work schedule, records keeping and communication with patients.
  • Adhere to DSF chart and internationally accepted humanitarian principles.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Diploma in psychology, with counseling experience and expertise
  • Interest in working with patients with chronic diseases, especially cancer patients
  • Interest in performing home care
  • At least 2-year experience as a psychologist
  • Ability to work in team, with patience and flexibility
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Serious, dynamic and autonomous person
  • English and Khmer comprehensive professional skills; knowledge of French is a plus
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)
