Project Team Leader

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Team Leader to lead our External Monitoring Project. This role is responsible for overseeing monitoring and evaluation activities, managing project implementation, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards and donor requirements. The successful candidate will lead a team of monitoring professionals while maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders and partners.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Management
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of external monitoring officers and field coordinators
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment
  • Assign tasks and monitor team workload to ensure timely delivery of monitoring activities
  • Facilitate team meetings and coordinate cross-functional collaboration
  • Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring frameworks and methodologies
  • Design data collection tools, surveys, and evaluation instruments
  • Oversee field monitoring activities and ensure data quality and accuracy
  • Monitor project progress against established indicators and benchmarks
  • Prepare detailed monitoring reports and present findings to senior management
  • Identify risks, issues, and recommend corrective actions
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Maintain strong relationships with implementing partners, government agencies, and donor organizations
  • Coordinate with project managers and technical teams to align monitoring activities
  • Represent the organization in external meetings, workshops, and coordination forums
  • Facilitate feedback sessions with beneficiaries and community stakeholders
  • Ensure transparent communication of monitoring findings to all relevant parties
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure all monitoring activities comply with organizational policies and donor requirements
  • Implement quality control measures for data collection and analysis
  • Maintain adherence to ethical standards and safeguarding protocols
  • Oversee documentation and filing systems for monitoring data and reports
  • Conduct regular field visits to verify data accuracy and team performance
  • Strategic Planning & Innovation
  • Contribute to the development of monitoring strategies and annual work plans
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains
  • Stay updated on best practices in monitoring and evaluation methodologies
  • Support the integration of technology solutions for data collection and analysis
  • Participate in organizational learning initiatives and knowledge sharing
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience/ Technical Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project monitoring, evaluation, or development programs
  • At least 3 years of team leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience in designing and implementing monitoring frameworks and data collection systems
  • Strong knowledge of Results-Based Management and Theory of Change approaches
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, R, Excel) and data visualization tools
  • Experience with monitoring software and database management systems
  • Knowledge of research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Local language proficiency as required by project locations
