Gret is a French International development NGO, active in various sectors in Cambodia since 1988. The NGO is looking for a Project Facilitator in the field of training and professional integration of young people to coordinate the implementation of a new project financed as part of the JADE (Young people as stakeholders in the future) program by the French Development Agency (AFD). The project aims to empower young farmers through networking and a transformative approach to their place as social and eco-citizen actors in the commune of Damdek (Siem Reap province).

Position Summary

Project title and ID: Youth training and integration

Work location: Damdek, Siem Reap Province, with occasional travel within the country

Supervision: Project Manager

Close collaboration: Gret APICI and ASSET teams

Contract type: 16 months, with possible extension

Overall Responsibilities:

Under the hierarchical and technical supervision of the Project manager in Cambodia, the purpose of the project facilitator position will be:

  • Support the creation and development of a network of young farmers in the Siem Reap Province, in the framework of the JADE program

Job Context:

As part of the JADE Program Agreement, Gret’s new action in Cambodia, aims at strengthening the individual and collective power of young farmers through networking and a transformative approach to their role as social and eco-citizen players in their territories and within existing producer groups/cooperatives/networks.

This 18-month project will involve:

  • Supporting the creation and management of a network of young farmers in Siem Reap province
  • Co-construct and run a program with these young people to exchange practices, knowledge and civic commitment
  • Promoting agricultural professions and young people's eco-citizen initiatives through events and digital content
  • Supporting eco-citizen initiatives developed by young people in their local communities
  • Helping young people to participate in the creation and actions of the platform for the development of a Territorial Food Plan in Siem Reap province.
Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • In the position of the Project Facilitator, he/she will perform the following tasks:
  • Participate in the implementation of activities of the new project in Cambodia in the framework of the JADE program.
  • Under the coordination of the Project Manager, ensure the implementation of the field activities in the framework of the project.
  • Support the Project Manager in the conduction of a territorial analysis (data collection, facilitation of focus groups etc...).
  • Under the coordination of the Project Manager, mobilize and accompany the network of 20 young farmers in Siem Reap province.
  • Contribute to the design of the Youth network’s program with the young farmers and the PM.
  • Facilitate young people’s exchange groups by maintaining intensive and ongoing discussions.
  • Lead the facilitation of trainings to the Youth (especially on soft skills)
  • Provide regular coaching and support to youth group's initiatives.
  • Facilitate technical support to youth in small grant procedures.
  • Support the Project Manager in the preparation of activity reports to the donors.
  • Support the Project Manager in implementing the communication plan.
  • Participate, where appropriate, in workshops organized by the Employment & Integration Team as a part of the JADE program.
  • Facilitate exchanges with local stakeholders
  • Support the local stakeholders in mobilizing its members.
  • Conduct mobilization and awareness-raising actions
  • Under the coordination of the Project Manager, co-construct with the partners and the authorities, use the tools for raising awareness and mobilizing young people in the neighborhoods.
  • Monitor and support the Project Manager and the partners in youth awareness and mobilization activities.
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, participate in the training of young farmers.
  • Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of the implementation of activities.
  • Under the coordination of the Project Manager, implement the monitoring and evaluation system; collecting and analyzing the data produced to ensure and project indicators are met.
  • Contribute to the capitalization process resulting from the project.
  • Organize workshops, meetings and trainings.
  • Make sure that the agenda and the objectives of the workshops and trainings are followed.
  • Facilitate the logistic aspect of the workshops, meetings and trainings.
  • Take notes and conclusion of the meetings and workshops to feed the reports.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Competencies and Skills
  • Higher education in the fields of development, project management, education, social work, economics or human and social sciences.
  • 3+ years of experience facilitating youth programs.
  • Experience in the creation of training modules and in training delivery.
  • Experience in the facilitation of soft skills training.
  • Experience in an international NGO is an asset.
  • Experience in the fields of training and professional integration or youth development especially in rural areas; in the context of Cambodia.
  • Knowledge of the SR Province is an asset.
  • Good communication and facilitating skills, demonstrating trust, competence, respect and motivation.
  • Ability to take a step back, question yourself, adapt.
  • Sense of teamwork.
  • Rigor, organizational skills.
  • Interest in the cross- cutting issues of gender and the ecological transition.
  • Motivation to work in the service of young people, within a project working for and with young people.
  • Good knowledge of English and Khmer.
  • Good knowledge of computer skills.
  • Good knowledge of data collection methods.
  • Strong written communication skills.

This full-time position is for a period of 16 months including a probation period of 3 months, starting in August 2024 in Siem Reap. The signed contract will be under Cambodian law.

Salary will be based on skills and experience, and on Gret's salary scale in Cambodia.

Working hours

Daily working hours vary according to requirements, up to a maximum of 8 hours per day from Monday to Friday. Possibility of being involved in events during weekends. Weekend work is compensated.
