Announcement Description

The Supreme National Economic Council (SNEC) was established by the Royal Degree dated on 28 December 2002. SNEC is a think-tank for socioeconomic development policies for the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC). This institution is mandated to provide the RGC with technical analysis and recommendations regarding policies and strategies for rapid and sustainable socioeconomic development. Unit for the Agriculture Sector (AUAS) within SNEC is high-level policy advice to the leadership of the RGC and through the recently established AUAS, conduct a set of broad and specific policy studies to inform policy planning and decision-making process for inclusive and sustainable agriculture development and to formulate evidence-based policy recommendation.

The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has recognized agri-food processing as one of the key priorities for economic development and economic diversification. An approach to overcome the many structural challenges that food processors face in Cambodia, including high utilities costs and the lack of skilled labor, is to develop an Agri-food Industrial Park (AIP), where manufacturing and services of agribusiness are co-located and centrally managed by a single entity, bringing together components like Research and Development (R&D), logistics, capacity building and other common facilities with the aim of creating an enabling environment for tenants and investors.
