Program Intern

Internship Objectives
The selected Program Intern will work for Let’s Read and Play Phase 2. In particular, the selected intern will be a program person in coordinating the implementation of Let’s Read and Play with partners.
The selected Program Intern will work closely with the Program Officer to support Let’s Read and Play Project below:
- Support the Let's Read and Play Project as it drives toward success with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports;
- Be a focal person and maintain communication with partners, including the Early Childhood Education Department, public kindergarten schools, consultants, and parents;
- Address challenges and with the Program team response to the needs of the project;
- Plan a frequent visit to monitor three public kindergartens that utilize the Let’s Read and Play curriculum;
- With the Program Team, support the curriculum development team to finalize a package of preschool curriculum.
- Be ready to support quarterly events conducted by the public kindergarten schools.
This internship allows the candidate to work closely with The Asia Foundation on the program side, specifically focusing on the Let’s Read and Play Project.

- Intern will get a $300 monthly stipend for working full-time.

- Sick leave: 6 days total [ per length of internship program]
- Holidays: align with the Office’s Public holidays
- Vacation leave: 1.25 days per month or 7.5 days in total of the length of the internship
- Unpaid leave: if the intern has not accumulated enough leave, then her/his stipend will be adjusted to deduct an amount based on the leave required/taken. This will be at the discretion of the senior management.

- The internship should meet the following criteria:
- Fresh graduates from social sciences such as Education, Development Studies, and International Relations/Studies are preferred.
- Interested in working with NGOs and passionate about children’s books and reading.
- Have good interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrate the willingness to learn new things and new challenges;
- Able to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines under pressure, and collaborate with various people in a multicultural team;
- Proficient in both English and Khmer (spoken and written).
