MMS Consultant
The Consultant - Based in any Location
Scope of the position:
The purpose of the MMS qualitative research is to evaluate factors that influence adherence behaviour. Recommendations and findings from the qualitative research will support the recommendations to the government on factors to consider when scaling MMS and designing communication materials that meet the needs of pregnant women. The consultant will report to Mai-Anh Hoang, Regional Technical Advisor &Coordinator.
Timelines and deliverables:
The timeline for this consultant is from June 25-September 30, 2023 (90days). Consultant shall provide the following deliverables:
- Coded data sets in Nvivo.
- Codebook
- Draft Manuscript using Maternal and Child Nutrition manuscript guidelines.
Submission of Proposal
Helen Keller International is therefore seeking technical and financial proposals from competent consultants. The technical proposal should contain a work plan, a summary of curriculum vitae, a schedule for undertaking the tasks, daily rates as well as direct costs & taxes associated with the assignment.
- Participate in regular check-in meetings with the research team in Cambodia and the Helen Keller regional technical advisor (activity lead);
- Work as a team to code data from the interviews and focus group discussions in Nvivo. This will entail iterative discussions on the code book; discussing with the Cambodia team the code book to ensure a high level of intercoder agreement, and then coding data in English as agreed with the activity lead;
- Share coding updates regularly with the activity lead to be able to resolve questions and challenges;
- Share draft findings with Cambodia MMS qualitative research team for discussion;
- Share draft manuscript with Cambodia MMS qualitative research team for discussion.
- Demonstrated experience in coding and analyzing qualitative focus group discussions and in-depth interviews.
- Prior publication track record.
- Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, health, or a similar area of study.
- Good experience in nutrition implementation research.
- Technical knowledge of nutrition programs, public health.
- Experience working with Cambodian team.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor and supervise field activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, knowledge of social and behavior change programming preferred.
- Ability to code and analyze data in Nvivo.
- Ability to use Microsoft-based applications: Word, Excel, email/internet etc.
- Good in English, both spoken and written.
- Experience working in rural Cambodian communities.
- Ability and willingness to undertake extensive field travel when needed.
