MEAL Assistant

Position Summary

Department: Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning

Role Purpose / Summary

United World Schools (UWS) Cambodia is dedicated to improving educational opportunities for children in remote and underserved communities. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform decision-making and program improvements.

The MEAL Assistant will support the implementation of UWS Cambodia’s MEAL framework by assisting with data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting. The role will contribute to strengthening data accuracy and reliability, supporting program effectiveness and evidence-based decision-making.

Reports To: MEAL Manager

Type of Contract: Full – Time Unspecified Duration Contract (UDC)

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Remuneration: Negotiable according to qualification and experiences

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Validation
  • Assist in monthly data collection from UWS schools, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Support Education Officers (EOs) in collecting and verifying school-level data.
  • Conduct spot checks and Data Quality Audits (DQAs) to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping of collected data.
  • Develop kobo form and provide guidance on the use of data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, lesson observation forms tools).
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Assist in data entry, cleaning, and analysis for various MEAL tools (e.g., EGRA, EGMA, SDR, Mother’s Group & Girls’ Club Impact Evaluations).
  • Generate summary tables, charts, and visualizations for reports and presentations.
  • Support the MEAL Manager in preparing periodic reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in tracking program performance indicators against set targets.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings to share MEAL findings and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Develop and manage Dashboard in power BI
  • Capacity Building and Support
  • Provide technical support to EOs on MEAL tools and data collection methodologies.
  • Assist in training sessions on data collection, validation, and reporting for field teams.
  • Support field visits to ensure MEAL processes are being followed effectively.
  • Accountability and Learning
  • Assist in the implementation of community feedback mechanisms.
  • Contribute to learning reviews by documenting best practices and lessons learned.
  • Support evaluations, surveys, and assessments as needed.
  • Logistic and Administrative Support
  • Prepare all logistics for action research and assessments, ensuring all materials and resources are well organized.
  • Ensure logistical arrangements are in place to facilitate smooth data collection processes.
  • Communicate with target groups for interviews to ensure their availability and readiness.
  • Prepare all cash advances and settlements related to action research and assessments.
  • Other Tasks
  • Support other organizational activities as required, including research, and external communication.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the MEAL Coordinator.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • ESSENTIAL
  • Is a Cambodian national
  • Bachelor’s Degree in data analytics, Science, Rural development, Environemnt, economics, education, computer science or a related field preferred. 
  • Previous experience in an M&E role for NGOs in Cambodia would be advantageous, but not required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Khmer; good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Is prepared to travel within Cambodia, including at short notice
  • DESIRABLE
  • Female candidates are strongly encouraging to apply
  • 1year experiences working in MEAL fields and a degree in data analytic
  • Good facilitation and communication skills, in particular working with sub-national government
  • Good documentations skills and be able to write report in English
  • Sound interesting in development works in particular primary education in remote areas

Finance Internship

Position Summary

Department: Finance and Operation Department

Location / Duty Station: Banlung, Ratanakiri Province

Role Purpose / Summary

Thie role is a supporting staff. He/she will be worked closely with Finance and program staff to support the payment reviewing and request and also control on cash book report.

Moreover, he/she will be responsible on maintenance finance documentation.

Reports To: Line Supervisor, Finance Officer (FO)

Type of Contract: Full–Time, Renewable (based on performance review /permanent)/ 6 month

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Remuneration: Competitive

  • Assist in processing invoices, payments, and reimbursements
  • Help maintain and update financial records, ledgers, and databases
  • Support the preparation of monthly Cash book report
  • Help ensure compliance with internal financial policies and donor requirements
  • Organize and file financial documents, both electronically and in hard copy
  • Contribute to audits and other financial reviews
  • Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field (Year 3 & 4 is encourage)
  • Basic understanding of financial principles and accounting practices
  • Proficiency in MS World, Excel, and power point
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Interest in non-profit work and international development
