Sunrise Cambodia is a world-class charity working on the ground in Cambodia to give much-needed help to at-risk kids, struggling families and poor communities in some of the most poverty-stricken provinces of the country.

Sunrise Cambodia began in the early 1993s when a South Australian fifty-year old named Geraldine Cox began a small orphanage to care for the some of the orphaned grandchildren from Pol Pot’s regime. Unable to have her own children, Geraldine became “Mum to Many” as she took in street kids, orphans and the disabled to give them good food, a place to sleep, an education and lots of love.

Position Summary

REPORT TO : Country Director

HOURS OF WORK : 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job brief

The purpose of this role is to help us build and maintain a strong and consistent social media and marketing presence in line with our vision and child protection policies, and to develop our fundraising and sponsorship strategies.

The responsibilities of this role include creating and analyzing the performance of advertising, social media and fundraising events, managing our website and the marketing budget and ensuring that all marketing material is in line with our principles and vision. To be successful in this role, you should have hands-on experience with social media and fundraising as well as web analytics tools and be able to turn creative ideas into effective fundraising projects.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for making a positive impact, strong strategic thinking skills, and a proven track record in marketing, particularly within the non-profit sector, to help drive awareness and support for our mission of empowering vulnerable children through a wide range of online and offline channels.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to increase awareness of Sunrise Cambodia's mission, programs, and impact both locally and internationally.
  • Develop and implement a child sponsorship strategy, including expansion of our current program and guidelines in line with child protection policies.
  • Manage all aspects of digital marketing, including social media, email marketing, website management, and online advertising campaigns.
  • Create engaging content, both visual and written in Khmer and English, for various marketing channels, including social media posts, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop marketing materials and campaigns to support fundraising efforts and donor acquisition.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and partners to amplify the organization's reach and impact.
  • Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in marketing and fundraising, and integrate relevant innovations into Sunrise Cambodia's marketing strategies.
  • Manage the marketing budget effectively and ensure that all marketing activities are executed within budgetary constraints.
  • Represent Sunrise Cambodia at events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the organization and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Build strategic relationships and partner with key industry players, agencies and vendors
  • Oversee and approve marketing material, from website banners to hard copy brochures and case studies
  • Preparing and presenting quarterly and annual reports to senior management
  • COMMUNICATION
  • Liaise with sponsors and donors
  • Identify and approach potential sponsors, donors and business partners and follow up on donor and sponsor requests
  • Undertake research activities as needed, including searching for prospective donors and supporters
  • Work closely with relevant staff across Sunrise Cambodia, including Finance Manager, Assistant Manager, Adm & HR officer, House Parents Coordinator and other colleagues
  • Attend management meetings and monthly staff meetings.
  • Participate as a key member of staff in strategic and implementation planning
  • Attend relevant meetings, workshops and conferences
  • COORDINATION AND RELATIONSHIP
  • Work collaboratively with the Sunrise Board, Management, and relevant Sunrise Cambodia staff to develop an effective sponsorship and fundraising program
  • Build and nurture effective working relationships with local authorities and other related agencies and sponsors/donors
  • Build a strong sense of teamwork among program staff and ensure high quality communications between staff and Sunrise Kandal facilities
  • Maintain good relations with all departments/programs including facility & residential care, community development and education
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To proactively participate in the Staff Performance Appraisal process including the annual appraisal, midyear review and regular 1:1 meetings, ensuring that the Performance Appraisal process (including the paperwork) is an integral component of Annual Work Plans and activities;
  • Promote a safe and secure work environment; foster a culture of safety and security awareness and consistently follow all Sunrise Cambodia safety and security policies, procedures and directives;
  • Uphold and promote Sunrise Cambodia’s commitment to Child Protection and the Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment Policy
  • Comply with Sunrise Cambodia’s Financial, Personnel and Operational requirements, foster strong communication between operations and programs teams and uphold high standards of honesty and integrity in personal conduct.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Master’s or Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing
  • Direct experience in fundraising and sponsorship programs
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector, particularly in international development or child welfare, is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing techniques and platforms, including social media, email marketing, SEO, and Google Analytics
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful marketing strategies that drive engagement, awareness, and support
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • A strong understanding and commitment to child protection policies
  • Fluency in English and Khmer required
