Marine Project Coordinator

Reports to: Cambodia Program Director
The Marine Project Coordinator contributes to the implementation and administration of Wild Earth Allies’ (WEA) coastal and conservation interventions in Cambodia, which furthers our global mission of protecting vital areas of our natural world for the benefit of wildlife, habitats and people.
This position implements field activities, in support of WEA’s Marine Project, which include: coordinate field surveys and research on priority marine ecosystems (seagrass beds, corals, mangroves); facilitate effective co-management of community fisheries in Kampot and Kep Provinces; conduct environmental awareness campaigns; support Cambodia government in Marine Fisheries Management Areas. This position will operate with effective, transparent and legally appropriate support to WEA’s program in Cambodia in accordance with specific donor requirements, WEA norms and international best practice.
- Marine Research & Fieldwork
- Implement field surveys including planning, logistics, liaison with project partners and data collection.
- Collate and file research results and all information relating to the project research.
- Contribute to written reports summarizing research findings for partners and donors.
- Manage and mentor a small team of field assistants.
- Community Engagement & Awareness Raising
- Support WEA community engagement and project partners by coordinating meetings and outreach events.
- Lead ongoing training and awareness raising around safe handling and release of sea turtles and other threatened marine wildlife.
- Project Support & Administration
- Liaise with the WEA Cambodia Offices on financial and administrative matters and ensure that all transactions are carried out properly in accordance with WEA policies and donor guidelines.
- Contribute to project workplans, budgets, donor reports and organizational impact monitoring. Liaise with Cambodia program team and WEA Director of Marine Partnerships on design of marine initiatives in Cambodia.
- Bachelors degree in relevant field, with Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in field implementation, with knowledge of the marine environment.
- Demonstrable leadership skills particularly in community-based conservation activities.
- Committed to collaborative approach with team members and partners.
- Strong communication skills to build effective relationships with government, community, and NGO partners.
- Positive attitude and flexibility when tackling field work schedules and tasks.
