Facilities Maintenance Technician
Working as part of the Maintenance Team, the Facilities Maintenance Technician will contribute to the upkeep of CIS facilities. The position would be suitable for a reliable candidate with some maintenance experience and a broad technical skill set, including in plumbing, carpentry and electrical systems. Maintenance technicians will be required to work according to a roster schedule, which may include weekends.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager to conduct routine inspections of the facilities, equipment and electrical systems to identify hazards, defects and any need for adjustment or repair
- Respond to the daily list of predetermined, preventive and corrective maintenance assignments by:
- visiting locations to assess and trouble-shoot issues
- performing minor electrical, carpentry, plumbing repairs, and air conditioner cleaning and repairs
- recording daily repairs in the maintenance logbook
- Maintain inventory records for equipment and supplies; assist with budget preparation as requested
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
- Able to use a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, hammers, drills, wrenches and electrical testing equipment
- General knowledge of set-up, testing and maintenance in the following areas:
- ventilation and air conditioning
- electrical (light bulbs, sockets, circuit breaker panels)
- pumps and other mechanical equipment
- wall surfaces (painting, repairs, carpentry), doors and windows (locks, hinges and replacements), handrails
- plumbing, fixtures and fittings, drains, gutters, basins and toilets
- field and garden irrigation
- fire alarms, smoke detectors, extinguishers and sprinklers
- Able to diagnose construction, mechanical and electrical problems, and able to enact repairs; knows when to seek assistance and management pre-approval depending on the complexity of the issue
- Excellent trouble-shooting, problem-solving and time management skills
- Able to read system layouts and repair manuals an advantage
- Experience working alongside contractors an asset
- Experience in the maintenance of complex electrical systems or solar energy systems an advantage
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team
- Mindful of safe work practices, always uses protective gear and willing to adapt approach to maintenance work in order to prioritize safety
- Positive attitude and growth mindset; keen to engage in professional development opportunities and to build technical skill set on the job and through other available training opportunities
- Proficient in written and spoken Khmer; spoken and written English a strong advantage
