Purpose of the role:
The Logistics Assistant provides essential operational support to ensure the smooth running of APOPO’s mine action activities in Kampong Chhnang. This role focuses on procurement, asset management, fleet coordination, and warehouse maintenance to ensure that field teams have the necessary equipment and supplies to operate safely and efficiently.
- Procurement and Supply Chain:
- Assist in the procurement of goods and services in compliance with APOPO and donor guidelines.
- Liaise with local vendors in Kampong Chhnang to obtain quotes and ensure the best value for money.
- Prepare purchase requests, comparative bid analyses, and purchase orders
- Ensure all delivered goods match the quality and quantity specified in orders
- Asset & Warehouse Management:
- Maintain an updated Asset Register for the Kampong Chhnang office and field camps.
- Tag all new equipment and perform regular physical inventory counts.
- Manage the warehouse/store, ensuring items are stored safely and organized by category (e.g., PPE, technical tools, office supplies).
- Monitor stock levels and alert the Support Service Officer when supplies reach re-order levels.
- Fleet & Fuel Management:
- Coordinate the daily movement of vehicles for field teams and office staff.
- Monitor vehicle logbooks to track mileage and fuel consumption.
- Administration Support:
- Assist in organizing logistics for visitors, including accommodation and transport.
- Maintain well-organized digital and physical filing systems for all logistics documentation (invoices, waybills, etc.).
- Support the Support Service Officer in preparing monthly logistics reports.
- Provide hands-on administrative support to DTC operations.
- Support visiting staff, trainers, veterinarians, donors, and partners.
- Khmer - Fluent
- English - Good
- Bachelor's Degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience in logistics or administration, preferably with an International NGO.
- Languages: Proficiency in Khmer and a good working command of English (written and verbal).
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Soft Skills: High level of integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a remote provincial setting.
- License: A valid driver’s license is often an advantage.
