ILO Internship Programme provides an opportunity for talented individuals to:
- increase understanding of relevant issues at the international level by involving them directly in the work of the Office and the application of ILO principles, programmes and strategies.
- gain practical experience with the ILO directly related to their field of study. The internship programme is not intended to lead to a career in the ILO. There should be no expectation of further employment at the end of the internship.
IMPORTANT:
Please only apply for an internship if you fulfil the following two criteria:
- You have no close relative serving in the ILO.
This is your first internship with the ILO (only one internship is permitted).
Learning areas
As the communications intern, you will be part of the almost 50-person BFC team, and will during the internship get an insight into the garment, footwear and travel goods sector in Cambodia. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the team members who support factories on a daily basis and get a better understanding of working with the industry stakeholders, and especially with the ILO’s constituents (Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, Textile, Apparel, Footwear & Travel Goods Association in Cambodia - TAFTAC and trade unions).
You will be gaining experience in especially internal and external communication for the programme, and will be part of implementing BFC’s communications strategy and work closely with our Communications Officer and other colleagues in the following tasks:
- Updating and tracking industry news and media exposure for internal and external audiences
- Regularly collecting and analyzing data, and make recommendations for expanding or improving the image of the programme
- Curating campaigns (for workers and factories) via social media and mailing
- Supporting researching, writing and editing content for distribution, including photos and videos
- Creating and editing communications copy texts (e.g. press releases, stories, publications, leaflets, social media posts, etc)
- Providing relevant support to programme activities, meetings, events, including drafting minutes and liaising with stakeholders
- Offering administrative support to the programme, communication initiatives, and digital wage project
- Education
- Education: Master’s degree studies in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- The candidate should be enrolled in their final year of graduate degree programme or should have completed such a programme no longer than 1 years ago
- Experience
- Experience: Any relevant work experience and good knowledge of IT would be an advantage.
- Languages
- Language skills: Fluent in English and Khmer. Knowledge of Chinese would be an advantage.
- Competencies
- Adaptable to an international, multicultural and multilingual environment, exhibit gender-sensitive behaviour and attitudes, good communication skills and be able to work well in a team.
- Additional requirements:
- Well-developed understanding of how social media works would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of communications-related computer software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well a video editing software would be an asset.
