Location: based in Ankorchey District, Kampot
Position Overview
The Social Mobilizer (SM) is the primary point of contact for students in the Gender Equality Portfolio (GEP). S/he facilitates life skills sessions for the students and provides mentoring in the form of group and individual meetings, as well as through home visits. The Social Mobilizer works with parents/caretakers and community members to raise awareness about the importance of education for students by facilitating parent workshops and/or holding community events. The majority of the time is spent with students at their schools. This position reports to the Officer, GEP.
- Required:
- Completion of secondary school (university degree or experience preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience and/or strong interest in working with or mentoring adolescents.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Solid organizational and planning abilities, including the ability to monitor implementation progress.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative.
- Proven experience working effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to schools, communities, and homes to support students directly.
- Fluency in the local language spoken by students.
- Familiarity with gender issues, education, and/or community development is preferred.

Literacy Program Officer (Closed)
Position Overview
The Literacy Program Officer (Technical Advisor) plays a crucial role in the Takeo districts by providing expert guidance, capacity strengthening, and implementation support to government education officers at the Provincial Office of Education (POE) and District Office of Education (DOE) levels, with a primary focus on improving literacy outcomes in early grades (Grades 1-3) through the public education system. This includes the coordination and leadership of Literacy Program activities such as training, monitoring, and reporting for a designated set of schools. The TA serves as the main point of contact for schools and local government officials in their region and coordinates the work of other Room to Read staff as needed. This position requires frequent travel to project sites and close collaboration with local partners, necessitating strong communication, coordination, and a deep understanding of effective early literacy instruction. The TA reports to the Sr. Literacy Program Manager (Sr. Technical Advisor) and will regularly interact with education officials, school administrators, local community leaders/members, teachers, and students. The ideal candidate will be based near the project locations within Takeo province.
- University degree in Education, Social Development, or other related fields.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum, and teacher training at the primary stage, with a strong emphasis on early grade reading instruction.
- Minimum of 5 years’ related work experience, with a significant portion focused on early literacy programs or teacher training in early grades.
- Experience developing and delivering teacher training, specifically on effective early literacy strategies and methodologies.
- Working knowledge and understanding of project management methodology and software.
- Strong planning, budgetary, supervising, and project implementation skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with schools and communities.
- Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
- Proven ability to build the capacity of others to achieve desired outcomes, particularly in the area of early literacy instruction.
- Ability and desire to travel frequently within the Takeo province.

Literacy Program Officer (Closed)
Position Overview
The Literacy Program Officer (LPO) is responsible for leading the planning and implementation of Room to Read’s Literacy Program under Happy Cambodian Children (HCC) project in the province. S/he oversees project partnerships and engagement, supervises project staff, and manages the execution of all project activities, including training and mentoring to improve pedagogy practices and to enhance literacy outcomes for students from kindergarten to grade 6. S/he serves as the primary technical resource for project schools and local government stakeholders. This role requires frequent travel to project sites and reports directly to the Field Manager and dot line to HCC Project Manager.
- Required:
- University degree in Education, Social development, or other related field
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum and teacher training at the primary stage
