CKS seeks a qualified Cambodian national for the post of Librarian at its headquarters in Siem Reap at Wat Damnak. The Librarian will report to the Head Librarian and Head of Programs.

The mission of the Center for Khmer Studies (CKS) is to support research and teaching in the social sciences, arts, and humanities as they relate to Cambodia. Founded in 1999, CKS aims to foster understanding of Cambodia and the Mekong region through its international fellowship programs for students and scholars, workshops, conferences, research programs, and library. With offices in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, and New York; CKS maintains numerous partnerships with local and international organizations and universities.

Librarian

Position Summary

Duty station: CKS Library, Siem Reap

Duration: Full time and one year contract (with possibility of extension)

Report to: Head Librarian and Head of Programs

Salary: Competitive salary based on qualifications

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Cataloguing and data entry into library management system
  • Supporting Koha migration project.
  • Updating the book wish-list as per set schedule
  • Acquiring books (online and offline), subscriptions to periodicals/journals.
  • Maintaining journal list.
  • Expanding photocopy collection.
  • Archiving newspapers on daily basis.
  • Corresponding with book donors, sending personal thank you notes, and maintaining donor list.
  • Providing assistance (in-person and virtual) to library users.
  • Coordinating library events including talks, workshops, and trainings.
  • Assisting promotion of CKS library.
  • Assisting annual book inventory.
  • Developing and coordinating programming for the Children’s Library
  • Overseeing Assistant Librarian.
  • Working closely with Head Librarian to maintain and expand partnerships with other libraries and local and international partners.
  • Producing monthly report for the Head Librarian.
  • Updating the Library database on monthly basis.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Management or Information Science.
  • 3 years of working experience in library.
  • Experience on library management systems is desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet, Databases)
  • Excellent English (verbal and writing).
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Cambodian history, culture, and society is an asset.
  • Familiarity with higher education institutions is an asset.
  • Strong interest in library work.
  • Ability to work as a team as well as independently with little supervision.
  • Be a result-oriented person.
