Position Summary

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Report to: Head of Secondary

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • To assist in the support and inclusion of named student or students with special educational needs within the school.
  • To provide English language support to named student/s who require it. eg. ALS (Accelerated Language Support)
  • To develop a knowledge of a range of learning support needs relevant to the school
  • To develop an understanding of the specific needs of the named student/s
  • To aid named student/s learning as effectively as possible in group situations and individually, inside and outside of the classroom
  • Clarify and explain instructions to the named student/s
  • Ensure the named student/s is able to use the necessary equipment
  • Motivate and encourage named student/s
  • Assist named student/s in areas of specific weakness, such as speech, language, writing tasks, numeracy etc
  • Assist named student/s concentration and completion of tasks
  • Develop/find appropriate resources to support named student/s and/or adapt materials to enable the student to access the curriculum.
  • Assist in the management of named student/s social interactions and behavior
  • Establish a supportive relationship with named student/s, promoting and reinforcing the student/s self-esteem.
  • Advocate acceptance and inclusion of named student/s in the classroom
  • Ensure the safety of the named student
  • To provide feedback about progress and student’s difficulties to the necessary stakeholders
  • To contribute to Annual Review meetings as appropriate
  • To participate in relevant professional development
  • To attend staff meetings when required
  • To follow school policies and procedures
  • To maintain confidentiality about school, student-teacher matters
  • Other appropriate duties as allocated by members of the SLT
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Good English
  • Computer literacy in Windows, MS Office
  • At least 1 year Learning Support experience.
  • Used to work in an international school environment
  • Possess good communication skills, be friendly and love the students.
  • Demonstrate evident of innovating and adapting curricular to engage children and enable them to perform highly
  • Enjoy working in an intercultural context
