The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together 33 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 250 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 10 nationalities and includes 5 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.

Position Summary

The lnstitut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) two full time Laboratory Technicians within its Virology Unit for a 12-months contract (renewable).

Recruitment conditions:

  • Available to start as soon as possible
  • 12 months contract (renewable)
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The Laboratory Technician will engage in a range of laboratory procedures and analyses within the field of virology, playing a pivotal role in supporting our research objectives.
  • Conducting specialized laboratory tests including serology, molecular, cell culture techniques and analyses pertinent to virology research.
  • Managing specimen processing and ensuring adherence to stringent safety protocols.
  • Assisting in the development and refinement of viral diagnostic methodologies.
  • Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment; managing laboratory inventory.
  • Collaborating effectively within a team of expert scientists and researchers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory environment, with a specific focus on virology.
  • Proficiency in analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively conveying information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic research environment.
  • Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Power Point.
 
 

Laboratory Technician

Position Summary

The position is for Laboratory of Environment and Food Safety for a 12-months contract (renewable).

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The main responsibility of the laboratory technician is to perform the following tasks:
  • Reception and registration of LEFS samples
  • Welcome Customers (reception, billing, invoicing)
  • Edition and archiving results
  • Food microbiological testing
  • Water physico-chemical testing
  • Culture media production and quality control
  • Sampling sample around Phnom Penh

Position Overview

The Laboratory Technician will play a key role in carrying out essential laboratory operations within the Blood Biology Laboratory (Hematology, Biochemistry, Immuno-serology) at the Medical Biology Laboratory of the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge.

Recruitment conditions:

  • Language: Proficiency in Khmer and English and/or French
  • Position: Full-time
  • Contract: The initial contract is offered for 1 year (renewable)
  • Start Date: Available to start as soon as possible

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Handle specimen according to standard procedures,
  • Perform routine internal quality control (IQC) on test procedures,
  • Perform External Quality Assessment (EQA) as per instruction.
  • Analyze tests in blood biology according to procedures
  • Appropriately utilize automate devices to perform tests
  • Interpret test results through technical validation.
  • Ensure test results accurate, reliable, timely, and interpretable by users.
  • Report laboratory results using laboratory information system.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Strictly adherence to biosafety and biosecurity protocols.
  • Participate in improving the laboratory quality system
Requirements:
  • Qualified Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Familiar with the computer use (Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural and scientific environment.
