Announcement Description

Liger Leadership Academy (LLA) opened its doors in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2012 as not only a model of education, but also a creative reimagining of international aid to a developing country. What if, by investing in the right few, we could create a generation of change agents with the leadership skills and core values needed to uplift their communities? From 2012-2023, nearly 170 students were recruited from across Cambodia and received a full scholarship to our boarding school.

Liger’s first cohort of 50 students graduated in June 2020, and our second cohort of 53 students graduated in 2023. Sixty of those Liger graduates are currently studying at or have graduated from overseas universities, with nearly 40 in the United States alone. Another 20+ alumni are at universities throughout Cambodia. Our current cohort of 60 students, who are studying on full education scholarships through to graduation, moved into Liger’s residential campus in January of 2023, and are now in Grade 7 or 8.

To ensure the sustainability of a Liger education, we transitioned from an NGO into a private school in August of 2024. Under new ownership, the AUPP Liger Leadership Academy welcomed 50 fee-paying Grade 7 and 8 students, diversifying and strengthening our community. In August of 2025, we will have students in Grades 7, 8 and 9 only.
