Khmer Language Learning Facilitator (Lead Teacher)
The position is for Grade 7 and 8
Contract: one year
Starting date: August 1, 2025
Salary: competitive education salary, negotiable depending on experience

Position Details
- This is a full-time position within AUPP Liger’s Education Department, reporting to the Education Director, with a focus on teaching Grade 7 and Grade 8 students with a range of Khmer language levels.
- The Learning Facilitator will have the full-time support of an assistant teacher, or Liger Facilitator Assistant (LFA).
- The contracted school day runs from 8am-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays are contracted time, but non-contact time, so staff are encouraged to work remotely and use the day for administrative tasks as well as personal organization and wellness. We feel this schedule contributes positively to an overall work-life balance for both students and staff.
- Please note: Some Wednesdays throughout the year will have required staff meetings, professional development opportunities, or compulsory school-related events such as parent conferences.
- Grade 7 Khmer will be taught in three 55-minute sessions four days a week with 10-15 students each, in the morning.
- Grade 8 Khmer will be taught in four 55-minute sessions four days a week with ~16 students each, in the afternoon.
- Candidates will be expected to:
- Liaise with our current grade 7/8 khmer teacher, who has been working at liger for 10+ years, to transfer information about student abilities, content / curriculum Covered, and specific focus areas
- Use the provided scope and sequence for each grade level, which outlines four nine-week units, to plan and execute engaging lessons
- Build on students’ existing reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, and maintain a real-world context for learning
- Differentiate and scaffold support for the entire group, most of whom are fluent in Khmer, but some of whom may have english skills equal to or better than their khmer skills, especially when it comes to reading and writing
- Develop and administer a variety of summative and formative assessments throughout each “round,” or nine-week term
- Clearly and consistently communicate student progress to students, admin and parents (twice per year) via written comments, in-class feedback, grades, etc.
- Become familiar with and utilize liger’s online student database, power school, for grading, etc.
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
- Perform other duties as required or requested
- Qualifications Required:
- Valid teaching certification
- Strong background in teaching Khmer to middle school students (G5-8)
- Excellent written and spoken Khmer
- o priority will be given to candidates who are have moderate or higher English
- Familiarity with Google Apps for Education, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Classroom, etc.
