The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) contributes to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda through the FAO Strategic Framework by supporting the transformation to MORE efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems, for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind. The main aim of the FAO Representation in Cambodia is to assist government to develop policies, programmes, and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

The FAO Representation in Cambodia is implementing the six thematic areas agriculture value chain, one Health and Livestock Production, Forestry, Land and Water; Fisheries; Food System Governance; Data and Digital Transformation as well as contributing to the development of United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and other relevant policies and strategies for the Government counterparts.

The grade of the position is SB2.

Junior Programme Assistant – SB-2

Position Summary

Duration: 120 days (6 months)

Reporting Lines

The Junior Programme Assistant reports to the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) in Cambodia and will work in close coordination with colleagues of the Programme Unit, Operations and Administration and Finance Units of the FAO Representation in Cambodia to achieve common goals of the organization.

Technical Focus

The Junior Programme Assistant contributes to supporting data collection and analysis related to food, agriculture and trade and implementation of initiatives on data and digital transformation in agriculture.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • The Junior Programme Assistant will:
  • Support in collecting and analyzing data related to food, agriculture, and trade;
  • Support in producing concept notes, talking points, technical briefs and reports;
  • Support development and implementation of initiatives on data and digital transformation in agriculture;
  • Support in arranging missions including development of mission programmes and appointments with stakeholders;
  • Support in organizing trainings and workshops and reporting;
  • Participate in and report on bilateral and multilateral meetings, workshops and coordination meetings with government counterparts and development partners;
  • Support recruitment of national and international consultants;
  • Act as FAO’s focal point for youth and Indigenous People;
  • Undertake other related tasks at required by the FAO Representative to achieve activities above.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Minimum Requirements
  • University degree (BA) in agricultural economics, digital economy, or other relevant fields.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in the relevant field with excellent working knowledge of relevant issues related to project support and project implementation as well data collection, data analysis.
  • Working knowledge (level C) of English
  • National of Cambodia or resident in the country with a valid work permit.
