Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Wildlife Alliance is seeking a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist to support its REDD+ projects in Cambodia. Wildlife Alliance works with local communities and government to protect Cambodia’s forests and biodiversity.
The position will lead development and maintenance of project indicators and MEL systems, strengthen the quality of monitoring information, and ensure that data and supporting evidence meet management, reporting, audit, verification, and applicable carbon standard requirements.
Wildlife Alliance also intends to strengthen its capacity in impact evaluation, community research, program quality assessment, and evidence based management.
- Develop and maintain MEL frameworks, indicators, methodologies, baselines, targets, and supporting evidence requirements.
- Establish systems for collecting, validating, analyzing, and reporting monitoring data.
- Review and improve indicators and monitoring systems, identifying and addressing weaknesses.
- Maintain documentation and support reporting, audits, validations, verifications, and technical reviews.
- Analyze monitoring data and provide findings and recommendations to management.
- Provide technical guidance and quality control for data collection and MEL activities. Design and conduct impact evaluations.
- Contribute to program design by integrating outcomes and measurement approaches from the outset.
- Design and oversee surveys, interviews, focus groups, and other research activities.
- Assess the effectiveness of training, community engagement, livelihood, and conservation interventions.

- Bachelor's Degree in monitoring and evaluation, economics, statistics, social sciences, development studies, public policy, conservation, environmental science, public health, or related field
- Professional experience in monitoring and evaluation in conservation, development, public health, or a comparable field.
- Experience developing or maintaining indicators and working with quantitative and qualitative data.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to data quality, and ability to identify and resolve monitoring problems.
- Ability to work with mobile data collection applications, databases, and online data platforms.
- Working proficiency in English. Khmer is an advantage but is not required.
- REDD+, carbon projects, or carbon standard monitoring and reporting.
- Audit, validation, verification, or comparable evidence review.
- Complex indicator frameworks.
- Impact evaluation or social research.
- Evaluation of livelihood, community development, safeguards, FPIC, training, or conservation interventions.
- Statistical analysis, databases, data visualization, or longitudinal datasets.
