Education Program Assistant

Position Circumstances

Position Summary

This Role provides support to the Education Program in Prey Veng province. It includes running Peace Clubs, facilitating Student Council meetings, visiting all partner schools, and supporting other Education Program activities. 50% of time is required in working alongside teachers and students to support the Education Program.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The Education Program Assistant will support the Education Officer in implementing MCC’s responsibilities under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with partner schools, including the following:
  • Facilitate school meetings, training and other community events.
  • Prepare logistics, materials, and supplies for Peace Club training sessions.
  • Participate in Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions and lead agreed training sessions as assigned.
  • Request and manage budget advances and expenses for training, meetings, and other project events.
  • Coach and support school principals and School Management Committees in guiding teachers to deliver quality Peace Club sessions for students.
  • Lead school meetings, events, and learning visits to other school areas.
  • Represent MCC at meetings with local authorities, networks, and the public, in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Collect data from project participants and consistently update the relevant system or submit reports to the PME Manager.
  • Visit target schools and communities each week in accordance with the monthly work plan and job description.
  • Assist the Education Officer in selecting new schools and preparing documents for MoU signing.
  • Prepare monthly work plans, monthly reports, and budget settlements in the SparkRock accounting system.
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Good is preferred
  • Khmer - Fluent is required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field is preferred
Work History:
  • Experience working with NGOs or INGOs for 3 years as a minimum
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of training approaches and the education system in Cambodia.
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Good spoken and written English skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of data collection tools, such as KoboToolbox or other relevant platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to teamwork.
Soft Skills
  • Honest, trustworthy, hardworking, and willing to learn.
  • Compassionate and good-natured, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team that includes Cambodian nationals and international staff.
  • Responsible, dependable, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to travel by motorbike to support schools and communities.
