With its significant growth in its scope of work in the recent years, SBK R&D is now looking for the following experts to support its current operation.

Announcement Positions

International Agronomist (Rainfed/Irrigation)

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Lead the formulation of the work plan (strategy and implementation) to provide agricultural services in ICs and SLC communities
  • Develop the agriculture development strategy for the project, including climate smart agriculture, Information Communication Technology (ICT), as well as promotion of income diversification through inter-cropping home gardening, and;
  • Prepare periodic technical reports for incorporation in the bi-annual progress reports to be submitted to MAFF and World Bank; Advise on the cultivation of food crops, vegetables, fruit trees and fodder crops;
  • Working together with livelihood development advisor/expert assist local communities in setting up water user groups (associations);
  • Contribute to the elaboration of environmental and social impact assessments for the individual measures to be implemented;
  • Collaborating with the project staff, provide technical support and liaise with the staff of relevant government partners and research organizations.
  • Promote stakeholder consultations and assist in collecting necessary data for the project's M&E and MIS systems;
  • Support the PCT in the design and supervision of baseline preparations, midterm, and endline surveys of project beneficiaries in selected project provinces;
  • Prepare regular reports and consolidation report to meet the project's M&E requirements
  • Lead the preparation of all reports, from Inception to Completion report.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • At least Master Degree in Agriculture Science and Rural Development, or its equivalent;
  • At least 10 (ten) year’s experience in the field of rainfed agriculture.
  • Proven knowledge in agronomy, irrigation system, green house system
  • Proven Experience in rural development particularly in diversified livelihood and participatory research approaches, community development, capacity building and natural resources management, project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Preferable experience working with Government Implementing Agencies/ Ministries, international NGO, public sector institutions and/or funding agencies
  • Professional in English, reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
 
 

International Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Consultant

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Work in close collaboration with relevant ministries (Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Women Affairs) and other stakeholders in order to improve the nutrition status of project beneficiaries, including indigenous peoples (IP), women, and children;
  • Promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture production to its complement in home-based consumption of nutritional foods, particularly for women and children, and providing training on nutrition-sensitive agriculture production to PDAFF, PIT staff, and Project's Beneficiaries;
  • Prepare periodic technical reports for incorporation in the progress reports for submission to MAFF and World Bank;
  • Review and improve NSA's guide book and implement nutrition-sensitive agriculture strategies and programs: this includes designing and implementing nutrition-sensitive agriculture strategies and programs included developing and delivering training and capacity building programs for MAFF, PDAFF, farmers, extension workers, and other stakeholders on nutrition-sensitive agriculture
  • Conduct consultation workshop, research and analysis to identify and assess the impact of nutrition-sensitive agriculture strategies and programs. This may involve collecting and analyzing data on nutrition-related indicators, conducting surveys and interviews with stakeholders, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing nutrition-sensitive agriculture programs.
  • Increase awareness on nutrition-sensitive agriculture within the context of Cambodia.
  • Provide technical guidance to the MAFF/LASEDIII on nutrition-sensitive agriculture planning in the framework of LASED III.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • At lease of Master Degree in Food System, Agriculture, Rural Development or a related field;
  • At least 10 (ten) years experiences in the field of supervising nutrition­sensitive agriculture program activities.
  • Proven technical cooperation experiences in particular working with the government, agency/officers and policy advice, and NGO partners.
  • Technical knowledge of nutrition programs, knowledge in public health, and working in multi-sectoral development programs being an asset.
  • Knowledge of social and behavior change programming being an asset.
  • Experience working in rural Cambodian communities or with countries in the South East Asia region
  • Professional in English, reading, listening, writing and speaking.
 
 

International Agricultural Economist

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Identify agricultural commodities with economic potentials for development by agricultural cooperatives in the project target provinces;
  • Provide technical advice to Agricultural Cooperatives (ACs) or Producer Groups (PGs) in the formulation of marketing strategies for selected agricultural commodities;
  • Review current contract farming experiences in Cambodia; engage with stakeholders, including farmers, suppliers, customers, and government officials to assess opportunities and constraints for promoting partnership between smallholder groups and other private actors including through contract farming. development.
  • Support the strengthening of linkages between the agricultural cooperatives/producer groups and SMEs and large private agriculture production and processing enterprises;
  • Prepare periodic technical reports for incorporation in the progress reports for submission to MAFF and World Bank.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • At least Master Degree in Agricultural Economics Development, Agribusiness Development, Agriculture Cooperative Development, Rural Development or its equivalent;
  • At least 10 (ten) years of professional experiences in agricultural and rural economic development or business development from both a development cooperation and private sector perspective
  • Experience in community development, agricultural value chain, as well as interactions with the public and private sectors
  • Strong business acumen and be able to analyze data, also be able to develop strategies to maximize profits and minimize costs.
  • Strong understanding of technology and be able to use software/app and other tools to analyze data and develop strategies.
  • Familiarity with agricultural trade and marketing issues in Cambodia or other countries in the South East Asia region, and;
  • Working experience with Government Implementing Agencies/ Ministries in a professional support capacity and with rural communities, will be an advantage

International Agriculture Extension Specialist

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Support PDAFF and the PCT in the detailed planning, implementation, and monitoring of an agriculture extension program for the project beneficiaries;
  • Assist MAFF and PDAFF in revising or refining the farmer field school (FFS) approach to improve its delivery, e.g., formulation and implementation process for farmer-managed demonstration plots and interactions between extensionists and farmers;
  • Support MAFF, PDAFF, and the PCT in establishing partnerships with agricultural research institutions to test climate-smart techniques and practices, such as climate-resilient crops and crop varieties, for dissemination to farmers;
  • Provide technical assistance and training to project beneficiaries and extension agents including on the dissemination of improved crop production practices, climate-smart technologies, animal husbandry practices;
  • Prepare periodic technical reports for incorporation in the progress reports for submission to MAFF and World Bank;
  • Perform other tasks assign by Project Management Team/ Agriculture Director.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Minimum a Master's degree in agriculture, agronomy, and relevant fields.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working on agricultural production
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working on agricultural extension (possibly including through innovative/digital) and agricultural training. Experience working on agricultural research is an additional advantage;
  • Must have experience on good human relation development
  • Must have ability to help administration on programme building
  • Must have far sightless and leading capacity
  • Technical knowledge of agriculture strategy
  • Demonstrated strong familiarity with Farmer-field-school's approach to agricultural extension. Familiarity with agricultural extension systems in Cambodia is an additional advantage;
  • Ability to conduct capacity building on agriculture and rural development to project beneficiaries;
  • Experience working in rural Cambodian communities or with countries in the South East Asia region
