Grievance Clerk

Position Summary

Wildlife Alliance is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to fulfil the position of Grievance Clerk for the Southern Cardamom REDD+ project based in Phnom Penh but with occasional travels to the field sites. Successful candidates will play a crucial role in promoting and upholding the rights of local communities and indigenous peoples within the context of our REDD+ projects. All interested candidates, particularly women, are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Receive feedback and/or complaints from indigenous people and members of location communities either in person, via networks of community REDD+ focal points, via project hotline operator, grievance boxes, and accurately document in the Grievance Logbook all details of the complaint.
  • Analyze feedback and/or complaints to identify the root cause of the grievance and determine and pass the information on to the appropriate managers in charge by strictly following confidentiality, and anonymity to prevent any possible threat or retaliation to complainant.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with the complainant throughout the grievance process and provide regular updates on the status of the investigation and inform the complainant of any decisions or resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all grievances, including documentation of investigations, communication with stakeholders, and decisions or resolutions.
  • Prepare reports summarizing grievance data and trends to identify potential systemic issues or areas for improvement complying with all applicable record-keeping and reporting requirements.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in Khmer and in English
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Free Prior and Informed Consent, human and indigenous rights.
  • Proficiency in Por or Chong Indigenous language is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience in implementation of Feedback and Grievance Redress Mechanisms, conflict resolution, or a related field is an asset.
  • Membership in a local community or indigenous group, with a deep understanding of local cultures, customs, and traditions is a plus.
