The General Manager (GM) plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the daily operations, strategic planning, and overall management of the non-profit organization. This role ensures that the organization’s mission, values, and goals are effectively implemented and sustained through efficient administration, staff coordination, and stakeholder engagement. This position can be an expat or foreigner—who is capable of international travel and has a strong background in donor engagement.

This job will require extensive travel from time to time. The candidate must be in possession of a valid passport and be experienced in international travel.
Days and Hours Worked
Working hours will vary and the position requires a fundamental respect for putting in the time required to do the job. 45 hours per week is minimum. The job will require working from time to time on holidays, weekends and evenings when required.
- Duties and Specific Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set priorities and evaluate organizational performance. Identify opportunities for growth, partnerships, and program development.
- Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Manage budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation in coordination with the finance team.
- Supervise staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Program Oversight
- Ensure the successful planning, execution, and evaluation of programs and services.
- Monitor program outcomes and impact, making adjustments as needed to improve effectiveness.
- Support program managers in meeting objectives and maintaining quality standards.
- Fundraising and Development
- Lead fundraising initiatives, including grant writing, donor relations, and event planning.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners.
- Ensure transparency and accountability in financial stewardship.
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the organization in public forums, media, and community events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the public.
- Promote the organization’s mission and advocate for its causes.
- Governance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
- Prepare reports and documentation for the Board of Directors and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain organizational policies and procedures.
- Social Responsibilities:
- The Board expects to set a high bar with respect to social awareness within Siem Reap and Cambodia as a whole.
- General Manager shall be aware of the social awareness that comes with this project. This includes, trash, recycling, etc. and shall be expected to develop programs promoting such.
- Help develop outreach programs for community schools (public & private) with the Boards involvement
- English - Fluent is preferred
- Minimum experience in one of the following point: Fundraising, non profit NGOs, understand about aquatic or animal and conservation for 10 years
- This is a hands-on position. The Board requires someone actively involved in the operations and that cares deeply about the mission and goals.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Applicant must have good written and verbal communication skills, as well as an ability to work well with others, under pressure, organizing tasks for the most effective use of time.
- Preferable to have work experience in Cambodia or Southeast Asia and a clear understanding of labor law in the region.
- References will be required and spoken to.
- Must be fluent in English. Second language is preferable.
