Announcement Positions

Field Officer (1 Position)

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a field officer to be based in Kampong Thom Province. This position requires regular travel to conduct remote field work and experience in at least one of the following topics (candidates with experience across more than one program area are preferred):

  • Agriculture-specific interventions
  • Climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture
  • Social and business development

Project Overview:

Our project aims to sustainably build agricultural production capacity to better support food security, nutrition and food systems. We are implementing this project in partnership with agriculture cooperatives, local communities, the private sector, farmer groups, and government representatives over an intervention period of 2,000 days, accelerating the wellbeing of mothers, children and their communities through evidence-based, lifesaving nutrition and nutrition-sensitive agriculture intervention.

Functional relationships:

Successful applicants will report to the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead and work very closely with other Helen Keller Intl - Cambodia program and operations teams. This position is based in Kampong Thom Province and involves frequent travels to remote areas.

Scope of the position:

  • The Field Officer will work with the team and partners at sub-national level to ensure the effective delivery of the project and services related to Climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture as part of the Transforming Lives project through Agriculture and Food Systems Program and financially supported by the LDSC.
Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead to develop weekly, monthly and annual workplans and reports.
  • Coordinate with the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, District Agriculture Departments, District Natural Resource and Environments Departments, and Commune Agriculture Officers (CAOs) to provide training to target beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate with CAO staff and village leaders to select model farmers on project sites.
  • Coordinate with CAOs and village leaders to identify households with children under five years.
  • Coordinate with CAOs and agriculture collectives (ACs) to provide orientation to target beneficiaries.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation team, selecting model farmers to develop integrated homestead food production on project sites.
  • Support the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead, to organizing and conducting meetings and workshops when required.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support, and direct project finances for training, meetings and workshops (or when required by the manager)
  • Conduct regular field monitoring, supervision, and coaching to target beneficiaries, providing them with feedback accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with government officials, key local authorities, NGO partners, and Helen Keller Intl team members for the efficient implementation of the project.
  • Monitor activities and outputs ensuring the delivery of project results.
  • Provide weekly and monthly progress reports to the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead in a timely fashion.
  • Develop a weekly and monthly work plan with the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead and relevant stakeholders in the first week of each month.
  • Attend routine program meetings with the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead and other field officers to discuss any field issues and revise work plans accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and communication with other agriculture and food systems team members, government officials and community members.
  • Liaise with CAOs and ACs as requested by the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead.
  • Submit a monthly program report to the Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture Lead.
  • Document program experience, lessons learned and best practices, and share with relevant management for technical input when needed.
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in agriculture and food systems (or a related field)
  • At least three years of experience in agriculture and nutrition at the community level (with a focus on agriculture and food systems preferred).
  • Excellent facilitation and coordination skills with the ability to lead participatory discussions and training on nutrition sensitive agriculture topics.
  • Fluency in Khmer and with a reasonable command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience working in rural Cambodian communities.
  • Experience working and coordinating with NGOs and government agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel by motorbike in rural areas.
 
 

Field Officers (2 Positions)

Position Summary

We are currently seeking Field Officers based in Kampong Speu (1) and Kampot (1) Provinces with travel to the field when required with experience in at least one of the following topics for these roles. Candidates with experience across more than one program area are preferred:

  • Nutrition Specific Intervention
  • Community Health and Rural Development
  • Social Development

Project Overview:

Our project aims to sustainably build the capacity of local health and food systems in partnership with local communities, the private sector, and governments to deliver evidence-based, lifesaving nutrition and nutrition-sensitive interventions to accelerate the well-being of mothers and children during the 2,000 days intervention period along with the communities where they live.

Functional relationships:

The Field Officer will report to the SAM and Mam Manager and work very closely with other Helen Keller-Cambodia program and operations teams. The Field Officer is based in Kampong Speu and Kampot provinces, with frequent travel to remote areas. 

Scope of the position:

  • The Field Officer will work with the team and partners at sub-national level to ensure the effective delivery of the project and services related to identification, referral, and treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) as part of the Women and Children at the Center: Transforming Lives Through Nutrition Program, financially supported by the LDSC.
Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work with the SAM and MAM Manager in developing weekly, monthly, and annual workplan.
  • Coordinate with the Provincial Health Departments (PHD) and Operational Districts (ODs) in providing training to health center (HC) staff.
  • Support the National Nutrition Program (NNP) or provincial core trainers in providing training to the PHDs and ODs, when required.
  • Support health centers in providing training to village health support groups.
  • Coordinate with health center staff and village health support groups to screen children for SAM and MAM.
  • Coordinate with health center staff and village health support groups to effectively deliver Nutrix and REMASQ products to children with SAM and MAM.
  • Coordinate with village health support groups in providing orientation to caretakers in family MUAC and the MUAC screening.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation team in collecting SAM and MAM data/information, when required.
  • Support the SAM/MAM Manager to organize and conduct meetings, and workshops when required.
  • Provide project-administrative, logistics, and financial support for training, meetings, workshops or when required by the Manager.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring, supervision, and coaching to health center staff and village health support groups and provide them the feedback accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with government official local key authorities, and NGO partners, and Helen Keller team for the smooth implementation of the project.
  • Monitor activities and outputs ensuring the accountability of results in the project site.

Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public health, nutrition, and nurse or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in public health, nutrition at the community level, especially in SAM and MAM.
  • Excellent facilitation skills, and coordination skills with the ability to lead participatory discussions and training on sensitive topics.
  • Fluent in Khmer and reasonable command of written and spoken English.
  • Experience working in rural Cambodian communities.
  • Experience working and coordinating with NGOs and government agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willing to travel by motorbike in rural areas.
