Field Officers
Scope of the Position:
Helen Keller is seeking four Field Officers to support a mixed method study on MMS for pregnant women, which seeks to assess the influence of a diverse range of factors that affect MMS acceptability and adherence among pregnant women in Cambodia. This research project has three main objectives: (i) to assess user acceptability and adherence in consumption of iron-folic acid supplementation (IFAS) vs. MMS as intended, and to understand product characteristics, barriers and facilitators associated with treatment acceptability and adherence, (ii) to understand contextual facilitators and barriers affecting optimal uptake and adherence to micronutrient supplement regimens during pregnancy, and (iii) to engage health care workers and pregnant women in a participatory approach to improve MMS uptake and adherence among pregnant women. The position will be based in Kampong Thom province. Field Officers will report to the MMS Project Manager, and will collaborate closely with the M&E team and other Helen Keller staff.
- Assist MMS Project Manager and M&E team in preparing detailed work plans for the MMS pilot project.
- Coordinate with local authorities, provincial health department, operational district and health centers within the study’s catchment areas.
- Participate in training during the pilot project, including data collection as required;
- Assist with recruitment of study subjects when needed;
- Mobilize target pregnant women/respondents when needed;
- Conduct interviews with respondents, including focus group discussion and key informant interviews according to an agreed schedule;
- Conduct scheduled bi-weekly monitoring;
- Maintain the quality of collected data in accordance with a provided protocol;
- Submit collected data (using tablet system) to the M&E team in a timely manner;
- Assist the M&E team in developing data entry forms on tablets when needed;
- Prepare monthly reports to submit to the MMS Project Manager;
- Assist the MMS Project Manager and M&E team with other duties as needed.
- A degree in public health, nutrition, nursing or another similar area of study;
- Good communication and language skills; candidate must be fluent in Khmer and proficient in English (oral and written);
- At least 2 years of experience in conducting research (household surveys, focus group discussion, key informant interview) in rural Cambodia;
- Technical knowledge of nutrition programs and public health programs preferred;
- Be motivated, creative, and capable of working both independently and in a team;
- Strong interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with study participants;
- A sense of responsibility for precision and honesty in work
- A valid driver’s, as data collection travel will be completed by motorcycle;
- Willing to be based in provincial or district town.
